It's not about insulting Windows. It's more about not accepting Microsoft's insults of us.
A couple of these articles have some really good points, and they explain some of the biggest reasons why I don't use Windows.
Did you read the one on telemetry that blows up the narrative many use to promote Linux?

Do you think it's appropriate to discuss Bill Gates' issues while ignoring those of Linus Torvalds the father of Linux?

The reality is I have been a Linux user for close to 30 years, I have built systems from the ground up to specifically use for Linux. I know it well, and I find it to very useful for many things but a giant pain in the ass for others.

No OS is perfect, all of them suck, and all of them are a pain in the ass. What I want is a system that gets out of the way and one that will run the most software and hardware and do so in a frictionless way

I am constantly amazed at my fellow Linux users who seem to have no issues dealing with all the ins and outs of a Linux but then turn around and think that Windows 11 is some evil behemoth and that will force you to download things every 5 minutes, and is full of forced AI, that will eat your resources, and enable Skynet and the rise of the machines

The reality is Windows 11 can be customized rather easily to eliminate all of the issues Linux fanboys think are so devastating with minimal effort

The easiest tool is ReviOS Playbook. You can use that to customize Windows and eliminate bloat, eliminate telemetry, eliminate AI, and end up with a lean and mean OS that runs everything

Windows wants you to be online all the time, even better logged into your account and their shop, so they can offer you the things you need. It is a consumer operating system telling you what to do, what to think and what to buy. On Mac this becomes a little more posh and elegant, yet also 'offering' you forced updates all day long. With Linux all you will get is a notification, which then includes info about which updates are security related. So now you become a user with absolute sovereignty over what your system will or can do. Now tell me, which is the very best OS for music production in these days. :?
Very well stated on this thread fulla love-N-cuddles... My vote went to XP which handles things just fine, thank you... & there's no 'security risk' which is bogus, they just don't want people getting fed-up with win 10-11-12-13.... and going back to using XP... My Wife uses win10 & all kinda problems crop up, on XP many ads don't even play like on her machine much now under the radar using XP...

Interesting. Reading up on this now.
Not personally as concerned with privacy per se. Even though website visit reporting will lead to commercial monetizing by MS. Which is unwanted BS. My real problem with telemetry is the system usage. And it has been a known issue with the most complaints. And since MS has other "services" quietly doing similar things once telemetry is turned off at close to the same usage, will this turn them off also?

Anyway, I want to ask if this ReviOS was run by anyone on an already installed OS as the site recommends a fresh install. But it does say it can be after also. Looking for personal experiences here.

Yeah, that's why I only said "a couple" of the articles had good points. :D

(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I have run it on existing installs without issues. It's one of my favorite tools and have used it on many of my friends and families computers

However there is of course risk with tweaking any OS so I would back everything up and it's possible you will break some software that will look for some file that is no longer there or disabled

The beauty of it is that you can still use Windows update if you want even after you run it, and Windows Update can be automatic in the background. This is handy for users who never want to touch the OS but don't want bloat

What it does is trick Windows Update to think you have a newer version of the things you have turned off so it will never want to update those things

I notice about an extra GB of ram after nuking from orbit all the things I don't want, like Edge, and One Drive and also see a reduction of about 30 processes in task manger, and of course all of that leads to better CPU performance

It works well with Windows 10 and 11.

The beauty of Windows is also it is a modular OS, use NTLite to strip off parts you do not want to even install. Zero problems with Win11Pro.
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

Win11 the most used version, quite a lot of Linux.
MacOS shouls probably be ignored by devs, I am pretty sure 23 votes for current MacOS and 23 for not older than two years are the same voters, Windows generally is used a lot more.

Good to know that this still works. I used nLite back then to shrink XP down to less than 50 MB for my audio workstations. Insanely fast.

Likewise, and I was able to do this from the beginning of Windows 3.x through 8.1 and even much of 10 in its beginning. As of the last forced backdoor updates though, that hasn't been as possible in doing it and having it getting left alone by MS. And that has been the biggest drive to go Linux.
Customization.
