Is this the thread for the gossip & stuff for the winter contest? It's a bit confusing as this thread talks about winter while the other is about winter contest rules...

The "December" contest is the "winter" contest. It's a two-month contest for a change.Marc JX8P wrote:Is this the thread for the gossip & stuff for the winter contest? It's a bit confusing as this thread talks about winter while the other is about winter contest rules...
Yes, this is the gossip thread, the other thread is just for submissions to keep things clean.

Thanks! I thought it was as some of the tracks in that other thread were mentioned but I thought I'd better check. Anyway, I will be posting my track in the other thread shortly after finishing the arrangement and the mix as well as making a 2 minute version. I look forward to see how it does, there are some very good and interesting tracks here.kovacs wrote: The "December" contest is the "winter" contest. It's a two-month contest for a change.

Nikp
Definitly a classic tune, and you did it justice. Great playin man! It's on repeat over here.
The mix is a little weird with some parts (ie flute and drums), but the music is right on. The guit sounds great throughout, love the solo.
What kind of guitar are you playing? It gets a real nice jazz tone for this kind of stuff.
I can't stop smiling. I love Bossa so much.
Thanks for sharing!

Ok, having listened some more...freeztar wrote: The mix is a little weird with some parts
It seems that the flute is peaking right above the compressors threshold, but sometimes stays under it. This causes the volume to jump from loud to soft occasionally. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

Er, lemme check. Odd, I think the boy EJ must be grabbing my cell phone and randomly pushing buttons again. You™ wrote:Love your song Garret. You weren't calling me were you?
Glad you like the tune.
Oh, I forgot to fill in gear details in the subs thread. If anyone's curious, I used Sampletank 2 & Sonic Synth 1 for the brushkit drums, rickenbacher bass, and horns and the talented mr. ray fo the epiano. Cakewalk home studio as usual, with likely suspects wavearts trackplug compression/eq, ambience reverb, classic chorus, and buzz maxi limiter.

It is time to pick up the reviewing again of the monthly contests; I figured the You-TM approach to this would be best
Donkey Tugger - For some reason I had expected more fireworks from you this (double) month. There's a lot of different elements in this track, ranging from great accoustics to heavily mangled thynthy parts; hence I feel the middle8 (?) starting at around 1.55 to be a bit out of place within the entire track. The vox-treatment there is a bit too much for me although it does bring about a psychedelic feel. How you come back after that break with the guitars though is subliminal, I feel you outdid yourself on that part. Then there's the odd feel that the vox starting at 3.16 has a slight timing issue. So all in all this track leaves me with a bit of a double feeling; some parts are the schiznit and some parts are the nitschiz
