dude know one knows your company. That's why you get so little response to your posts. you'd do much better to price your plugins accordingly, Like the Kern guy. He's new too but he knows that an unknown charging more than $29 for a plugin is going to have a rough go of it. As you're now finding out. There's too much competition out there. Learn the lesson before it's too late.

Most of the harshness comes from aliasing because it's not harmonically related to the input signal. Because of this, oversampling is mandatory. The rest is done with emphasis/de-emphasis.

Thank god we finally got a thread to answer this question.

Thanks.

I have tne Klanghelm SDRR, and MJUC Plugins, and love both of them, wonderful plugins. and at a very reasonable price.

I will check the Vos Ferric TDS.
Is the SDRR compressor function sufficient or do you always use the MJUC on top of it? Just curious if SDRR I could be used for both saturation and compressor as well in most cases?

Ok, I have a very unpopular take: if it's not recorded by yourself, you don't need extra saturation or extra compression.
That doesn't mean you can't do it. I found that most libraries and fx (external and virtual) already give me a massive sound.
Especially NI instruments already have some compression and saturation either in their patch or in the sample.
I used to be obsessed with saturation until I treid to leave it out as much as possible (nowadays I only use it on the master, vocals, bass and sometimes guitar).

So right now I've decided to only use 5 plugins for it:
- Hornet Tape and UAD Oxide Tape (99,9% on my master bus)
- Waves NLS Channel (in combination with guitar I manaeged to get the Santana Sound with it)
- Omnisphere FX
- IK's Tascam Tape Casette (for getting the MKGee guitar sound)

The only thing with Omnisphere FX is that it creates some phase issues (I noticed it when I dialed some distortion, reverb and saturation).

Been using Tape Hyll from Garuc a lot... SapphireDrive from TBTech as well. Both based on Crane Song's Phoenix.

Have all plugin already mentioned here?

I will add more: PSP Saturor/Vintage Warmer 2. And of course all SoundToys plugins that produce saturation.

I won't mention, for instance, Arturia ColdFire or Saturn 2, as they are too digital sounding. But can be useful in some situations, like saturating electronic kicks, where too much "warmth" can bring mudiness.

PSP MixPressor and PSP MixSaturator. Kind of old but still works for me.

LTL Silver Bullet, Kush TWK

JClones_Phoenix is also pretty nice
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

Anyone here has issues with PSP saturator on a Mac (using vst3 in Live) ?
I found it unstable, sometimes crashing my session. the support is aware about the issue, but didn’t find a fix so far…
It’s a pity : it’s a nicely crafted saturation plugin…

Can never go wrong with Decapitator. Also, EchoBoy using the differnt styles and setting the delay time to 0 then adjust the saturation works as well.

I've seen others recommend this, either in other threads or elsewhere in this one. Is this the same case with Echoboy Jr.? Because I tried this, and even if I set the delay time and feedback to 0, I still get phasing from a slight delay. I was using it on drums as an insert, and it was pretty noticeable no matter where the Mix knob was.

I've mostly avoided using 'character' plugins, but over the past couple years have been demoing and acquiring a few that do the saturation/warming/character thing. Here's what I'm rolling with for the foreseeable future:

Vertigo VSS2 - been my favorite buss processor for a while now
Spectre - not really for 'analogizing', but ideal when you need frequency-specific saturation. The 'Warm' algorithm does exactly what it says.
ALA-101 - very subtle but sooooooo good on individual tracks. First plugin I've heard that actually sounds like a fat, overwound transformer. Some people love it on the 2-buss, but I find it a little bit 'congested' for wide frequency stuff. Also pricey and can easily blow up your CPU.
Fuse Audio Tube Lab - It's a good plugin that I bought on the strength of the demos, but still trying to find the exact use case. For now I use it mostly after the ALA to inject a tube after a transformer. Also, the opto compressor is super nice. Currently liking this pair on vocals.
Korneff Sitral - For subtle wide saturated EQ.
Korneff Amplified Instrument Processor - For very obvious sounding tone and dynamics shaping. The saturation and transient handling in this and Sitral are excellent.

Obviously I lean toward plugins that don''t emulate any real world unit, but instead just 'do the thing' for specific use cases. Now that I have a good selection of these, probably done chasing this stuff for a while.
