Most people, when they hear about Shoegaze/dreampop think of the sound one hears when listening to a vacuum cleaner. The genre is quite diverse. :D

(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

Oh! Crap! I forgot that this in a thread about the Touched app, and not a thread on the topic of Shoegaze itself. Sorry for derailing the thread!!! :o :scared:

I couldn’t possibly use this for shoegaze, unless I put my feet up on my desk.

All you need is a good quality midi pedal controller. Then it acts the same as hardware pedals. :)

Yeah, but then all my pedals would be like “wtf dude!?”

Maybe I can use my expression pedal somehow. I do have a nice one of those.

 Yeah, a pedalboard with a laptop strapped to it WOULD look unusual. But it works! :hihi:

FTFY
After all, those are the genres which use the hoover sound.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Some other "secret weapons" he has used over the years:
...
The original Fender Blender from the 70s
Is it really a "secret weapon" when Fender releases a signature version of the pedal?

Yeah! 😂 Even as I wrote it, I was thinking of the Juno Alpha, and wondering if someone would call me out on that. But the metaphor is used heavily in the Shoegaze realm to describe the guitars. Think of the similar “Noiserock” (which is an adjacent genre). So I took a chance. 🤪

Not anymore. 😂

But if we’re being honest, none of it is really “secret” anymore.

I’ve called Airwindows Consolidated my personal secret weapon, but is even that really a secret to anyone here at KVR? I think everyone knows that one too. 🙂

I don't know, I've been on KVR since the days when people here thought Pentagon I was the dopest trip, and I didn't know that. Maybe I'll look at Airwindows.

For now this is very limited compared to IK Mixbox, which can do much much more as a multi FX and is in the same price bracket. I recommend Mixbox, great value.
As it stands this product is not worth $29 imo but much, much less.
Also narrowing on shoegaze may not be the best marketing strategy.
I don't mean to be negative, just realistic in this plugin saturated market.

Mixbox is discontinued. That might matter to some.

This isn't for me, but focusing on shoegaze might be a smart way to stand out. I still don't follow shoegaze, but I know there's a big following.

Yes Mixbox is discontinued but still can be bought, installed and used as normal. And I absolutely believe it has a way higher value than this plugin, with way more FX and controls.
Now if some like shoegaze and want a simple thing and don't care about price, then sure !
I'm just giving alternatives.

And for those who like free:
you could load the free and beautiful Waves Multiverse with a free distortion plugin, the Malibu plugin, then the Magic 7 reverb or other, done !

Post

The key standout feature for me is that it supports Linux—none of the alternatives mentioned do. As a Linux user, I love it when developers natively support Linux! That’s usually the key to developers getting my money. 🙂
