My thought exactly. Really disappointing but I understand why they would want to push it.

Go with the flow. Not.

Boring release Softube!
Stinks of subscription desperation…

Post

At least it's only $400. Add another $80 if you want the stand. But they do throw in the 4 screws!

I like controllers where the knobs are already predefined, because that saves a huge amount of time. And I think Softube deserves respect in that regard, their plugins sound very good, and I really like using them for mixing. I’d expect the same level of quality from this hardware as console 1 mk3.

And whatever the hell price the subscription costs!

Subscription is expensive, yes.

Includes 25 effects and is supposed to work with all the Softube plugins you own, no subscription required. I’m curious how it does with synths and Console 1 plugins.

Post

Looks like a really nice graphical display and pre mapped knobs always nice. I already own a lot of the 25 effects that come free so be interesting to see if they discount. For people with no softube at all, 25 good fx and a controller seems like a fair deal to me...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Post

Softube said it works with the Console 1 plugins but not the synths: "works with all Softube processing plugins"..."EQs, Comps, Saturation, Delays, etc…."

You can use Flow without subscription.

The more I look into this, the more it seems like it would be the opposite of a time-saver for me. I don't personally have a use for 'easy-mode' preset chains. The transition from 'flow' to 'detail' mode is pretty basic because you still only have 4 encoders and have to mess around with shift layers. If that large encoder could perform 'click and drag' mouse function on anything, I might've thought about it. I guess I will stick with Console 1.

They now have what, 4 ecosystems now? (Console 1, Flow, Modular and Amp Room) and they haven't done much with the latter 2 for years already. I hope they will at least continue to expand third party support for Console 1 while they're flow-ing all over themselves.

Imagine two guys in a studio. The idea guys says "it needs more bass" or "the kick needs to hit harder". The technical guys pulls up the appropriate processor, twists a few knobs, and looks like a genius. To me, Neutron's Mix Assistant seems even more "flow" than that but then the idea guy would be wondering what he needs the technical guy for.
