Sorry but you cannot compare the quality of Neutron against Softube Plugins (same for Ozone). - Neutron is faster but a lot more flat.

Post

I'm only saying Neutron's Mix Assistant is more "flow" than Flow is.

Post

The new Softube installer app had an option to install a free version of Flow Studio with a dozen or so 'flows' (FX chains basically) so I tried it.

Unfortunately it also installed Blaze Works Amplification without asking me so I had to delete it as it kept asking for iLok authorisation (only to make matters worse it has also installed itself into Amp Room and Amplifiers which now won't start without authorisation popups for Blaze - and the damn thing doesn't even show in their crap installer so I can't do a proper uninstall either)

Thanks for posting this aMUSEd !
Yeah, I saw Flow listed in the new Softube app and almost downloaded it.
Then... I had visions of it dumping a bunch of crap that I don't want or need into my iLok account, so I stopped myself.

I own almost 50 Softube plugins (I do own Blazeworks), and it seems like the "free" version comes with 25 plugins (as far as I can tell).
I just cant find a list anywhere of exactly which 25 plugins are included with this "free" version.

If I do happen to own them all and can use it free, then fine I will try it, otherwise it's a hard pass for me too.

Has anyone found a definitive list anywhere of exactly which plugins are included in the "free" flow basic suite ?
I haven't emailed their support yet, but might if I can't an answer.
Thanks !

tbh I'm not sure now if Blaze was installed with Flow or an Amproom update as I have uninstalled Flow but the Blaze stuff is still messing up AmpRoom and Amplifiers. The weird thing is it doesn't even show in the installer ap.

Forgive me if I am daft but I do not see any info on subscriptions - do you not get a permenant license to the plugins?

Wow that's weird, I don't think the Amp Room update would have installed that since it's a separate product.
I'm not sure if you are on Mac or Windows, but on the Mac there are uninstallers for everything that gets installed.
On the Mac they are located at /Library/Application Support/Softube I I'm sure there is a Windows equivalent, I have one in there called "Softube Blaze Works Amplification Uninstaller".

There's also a folder in there called "SSX" you could check to see if there is a file called "Blaze Works Amplification.ssx" in there, and remove it if there is.

Hopefully this helps.

Looks like it was a bug in the new installer app that led to it being installed - it didn't get installed with Flow but probably piggybacked on one of the updaters

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but there are a bunch of plugins missing from my account page. They seem to be the ones from a bundle. I've written support, so we'll see what they say. Might be worth checking.
My licences are still OK in iLok.

Hm, this one says the subscription is not needed for the hardware, and that you get a Flow plug in with it that is independent of the subcription. So is that a way to get Flow without the darn subscription for users who have tons of Softube plug ins? Personally, I'd be interested in a channel strip with pre-defined macro knobs for my Softube stuff, but I am not getting that subscription when I own 80% of the included products already...

The exclusion of the synths is weird, really, as it would be fab to have a few macro knobs for the synths. I could imagine that they will come out with some kind of controller for synths - maybe when they finally release Modular 2 (i.e. when hell freezes over).

Yes, I use it without subscription. Basically it just gives you the "flows" AKA presets, that work using just the plugins you own.

Which means, using your own Softube plugins, you can just add whichever you'd like in whichever order, set up the macros to whatever functions you'd like. This includes multiple functions per knob. Pretty sure you can inverse some functions too (like turning the knob can turn up the input and down the output, or whatever else)

Pretty useful, though I haven't gotten too deep with it yet.

Pretty sure you can either just download it directly from the site, or the installer.
