Correct. This is a hardware test and a guest (Windows 11)/host (Mojave) via VMware test and isn't officially supported.

Tests like this are key to seeing how much of the code works on the hardware. So far, so good. By comparison, our new app ArtMixer is not usable in VMware as it is based on the Metal GPU rendering engine which is tied to Apple hardware. Luckily, MetaSynth isn't so it can be ported to Win11 and using it on the T480s shows it is hardware compatible.

Reprogramming MetaSynth for Windows native will require a $200,000+ rewrite over 1-2years. Those discussions have been restarted again. If all goes well this time, and we get the right developer, a Kickstarter can be launched, and we can get to work. :)

Great news. Keep us posted. I very much miss this in Windows.

Although I’m a Mac user, I have friends using Windows, who are very interested in your progress. And for good reasons, given MetaSynth’s deep, off the beaten path approach.

If you’re going down the Kickstarter route, I think you’ll gain some substantial support, especially if you remain vocal about your intentions. Communication is key.

Even small, consistent updates can help to create some excitement, and generate more supporters. I’ve loved MetaSynth since early on, and I wish your team all the best!! :tu:

Okay, third time is a charm! We are lining up developers, and have a development path laid out. Down to 4 candidates to assess, get a budget estimate, timeline estimate, bridge any gaps with backers, and then start building. New survey has been posted to assess the interest, make sure to check it out: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YHKFKYZ

True. This is a verification of basic hardware compatibility of the app today on a ThinkPad. Going from Apple's Core Audio to Microsoft is another matter. The current goal is now to port to JUCE the abstraction layer can handle whichever OS it is ran on - Windows, macOS, Linux, whatever. :phones:

A port to Juce might also open a path to do a plugin version…

True. I am following with much interest these news. Hope something positive come u, and we will finally get access to Metasynth in Windows

Agreed. Which bits would folks like to see as plugins, just Image sequencing, or also the synths, samplers? What about effects, and spectrum analysis to sampler? Getting a sense of what folks envision to compare to what can be done.

In a way its about integrating the package into a DAW workflow.
I don’t own it (for that reason), so I can’t tell what could be left out. Certainly it does not need to host synth plugins, as it would run in a host anyway.
It would simply ease the combination of DAW features with the image based synthesis.
When I read about it, it seems there was an attempt to turn it into a specialized DAW. A plugin would not need that, as it would run in an universal DAW anyway…
People who own it, could probably tell more…

A strength of MetaSynth is the interaction of rooms so it seems counterproductive and less fun to break them apart into plugins.

I think ARA integration would be truly revolutionary, if it's possible to exchange audio data, pitch, tempo and rhythm info with the DAW.

A simpler strategy is for the DAW and MetaSynth to open and save audio files to the same project folder.

Okay, this time for sure. We've sorted out the technology, built the path to bring MetaSynth to Windows, lined up the developer and are ready to begin. Only thing we need to know is how many folks want us to get rolling? Add your name to the mailing list, if enough folks want it, it will happen! https://uisoftware.com/windows-apps/
