Where does one find the midnight theme?WillTurnerFLA wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:56 pm
Have you tried the midnight theme though? This is what it looks like my end with the brightness pushed up a little. Will have a mid tone and light theme as soon as I can, but will probably be next week.

Will, me being a coding noob, may I ask what libcrypto.3.dylib is used for in the Framework folder of the Filament app on macOS?

If it's not there you may have to do an uninstall, reinstall of the new version - sometimes DAWs cache older versions of the plugin, it's really annoying. I uploaded an uninstaller which you should be able to see in your accounts page if you need it!cuttime wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 8:12 pmWhere does one find the midnight theme?WillTurnerFLA wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:56 pm

Good question! - libcrypto is just a standard security library that handles the license activation. When you enter your license key, it checks that everything's valid so you can use Filament offline! Sounds shady but I think it's pretty standard.Morty-C-137 wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 1:01 pm Will, me being a coding noob, may I ask what libcrypto.3.dylib is used for in the Framework folder of the Filament app on macOS?

Also not at all, I'm glad you're calling it out. If it's not clear for you, it won't be clear for othersMorty-C-137 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 4:49 amCheers Will! I truly appreciate you or being so responsive. I did try the midnight theme but somehow the choice of grey with teal made things less clear for me. I'll exercise a bit more patience in terms of GUI. It's easy to forget that this is a one man job. Really loving this app thus far.WillTurnerFLA wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:56 pmNot at all Morty, I'm working on a light theme, but it's been a rush getting all the other bugs and fixes in. It is on the list though. One of the issues I'm having is that the UI is appearing darker on Windows than mac which is what I'm designing on. Working on a way to compensate this.Morty-C-137 wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:23 pm I have just now updated to version 1.0.4.2 and I am liking the improvements except for the odd GUI choices? I like that we get themes and control of contrast and brightness but the fundamental issue for me was the foundation of color choices for background and various GUI elements.
The pitch black background just doesn't help in that regard and on top of that the connection lines are now shades of dark green on pitch black versus yellow which was at least clearer.
Sorry to come here and point out these things first but it's just tiring on the eyes and that affect the experience of working with it negatively.
Have you tried the midnight theme though? This is what it looks like my end with the brightness pushed up a little. Will have a mid tone and light theme as soon as I can, but will probably be next week.

Thanks for clarifying Will. I think Waves uses a similar method with their Waves Central app.WillTurnerFLA wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 5:19 pmGood question! - libcrypto is just a standard security library that handles the license activation. Sure. Below are just 2 examples of plugin host apps that choose to go for a dark interface but are still highly legible and non tiring for the eyes;WillTurnerFLA wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 5:21 pm Also not at all, I'm glad you're calling it out. The Midnight theme is marginally better. Whenever I try to host other instruments in the plug in MOTU DP 11, I get this mysterious window. I tried to report this within the share feedback window but I'm not sure you got it.

Re. UI I think what I'll do is have a go at a very classic mid/dark theme, specifically with clarity and working for long periods of time in mind. Just to manage expectations - this made not be the next build. I'm focusing on a few bugs around plugin state management as a priority to get everyone playing.
Thanks as always everyone!

Just to let you know, there's a big UI update just landed. I've changed a lot of the structuring which means if this doesn't make things easier I can iterate and adjust things really quickly. We also have a dark and light theme and text size adjustment. The dark is more dark/mid grey rather than black. I've also redesigned the matrix backdrop to matchsticks rather than dots - i think they weren't helping... Would be interested to know if this helps, and if there are any specific elements that are still hard to use.

Something seems broken with this install. GUI not resizing properly; zooms into GUI after resize through the settings menu and the drag corner to resize only adjusts height, but GUI still not loading?
This is how it loads:

Also the Apple Silicon designated installer still asks us to install Rosetta before proceeding..
