Tomayto/tomahto. Same thing really. It does get mentioned in these threads but out in the wild I rarely if ever come across producers using it.BONES wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 11:00 pm By whom? Everybody loves it, I've never read a bad word about it anywhere and it always gets multiple mentions in threads like these. Maybe it's under-appreciated but definitely not under-rated.

That's true of a million things. How do you find out about something like that? It's not like he can afford to take out ads when most people probably don't even bother to pay for it. And how often do you come across producers "in the wild" anyway? Outside of KVR, I don't know anyone I could discuss this stuff with, other than my bandmate. I suppose it could be discussed with some of the bands we perform with but it never comes up.

HY-Poly has mostly everything covered on a single page
And I really like it not only for its' clear structure.

With the exception of the Arpeggiator, Odin 2 puts everything it does on a single page. This a pretty versatile and good sounding synth for free.

GUI-Less is the simplest/best interface... Same from plug to plug, no wasted space not a drop of CPU wasted on mindless graphics... But hey!...BUTT HAY!! It's all about looks isn't it? We're doin' audio but in no way can we have an ugly functional plugin...

I don't think I've ever used one without a GUI. How does that even work?eLawnMust wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 3:25 pm GUI-Less is the simplest/best interface... Usability and workflow are hugely important aspects, given how incredibly crowded the market is, and with the power of modern computers, you don't have to compromise on sound or usability to save CPU cycles any more. It's thinking from 20 years ago and has no place in modern workflows.eLawnMust wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 3:25 pmGUI-Less is the simplest/best interface... The problem with GUI-less plugins is that they present controls in a random, unintuitive way that makes working with them much harder than it needs to be. A lot of effecst in Orion were GUI-less but they only had a handful of parameters so it didn't inhibit usability greatly. Imagine if a synth plugin like DUNE or Serum was GUI-less!?! They would be completely unusable. I think the only GUI-less synths I've ever used were MDA plugins from 20-odd years ago and they were very basic things.
Your DAW will provide a generic interface that presents the controls in an arbitrary way that makes things hard to work with.Examigan wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 3:36 pmI don't think I've ever used one without a GUI. How does that even work?

Thanks for this. Never heard of it. Neat little simple synth. Just picked it up. Will probably use it a lot when I need something quick and simple.
One question. Does this thing come with any presets at all? If not, no big deal as it's easy enough to program.

Never mind. I found the presets but the select preset function doesn't work. When I click on it, the screen comes up blank. And yes, I did select a folder.

Okay, it seems you have to select the main presets folder and not just one of the sub folders. We're all good to go.
