My missus wanted to see it, so yesterday I took her to the movies. I enjoyed it, it was decent enough.

Thing is, this was supposed to be opening night. Our local theatre has maybe 400 seats. Like only 20 people showed up. Wtf...

Is that the new Michael Jackson movie? If so, why surprised nobody turned up to see it? A lot of people would be concerned about being seen to support a film about a paedo, I'd assume. Also, I personally think his music is the kind of dated stuff that doesn't translate well decades later. Cheesy IMO. Paedocheese. It's not a good look, really :?

Yes, the movie about M.Jackson. What's wrong with a bit of cheese every now and then?

My theory: he was not paedophile but asexual. And extorted, being easy prey.
But nothing was ever proven beyond doubt. So we'll never really know the whole truth.

I really used to mock Michael. I was surprised to be shocked, saddened, and angry at his death.
I still am. Now, I feel very sad for him, his loved ones, and, of course, for any and everyone he may have harmed.
He was a very damaged soul. He may have been manipulated, but he could also be very manipulative. The movie is the family's attempt to put a burnishing on his legacy.
And, sell some CDs.

I read that the movie Leaving Neverland is about two of his victims. Never watched it, supposed to be difficult to watch.

Didn't he give someone something like $20m not admitting anything? Bit Andrew, that.

Anyhow, it's made $200m+ this weekend, so lots do want to see a hagiography.

I bet his estate has $$$ signs in their eyes.
There are a lot of people who don‘t want to believe what he became. From what I‘ve read, the film doesn‘t address any of that. It is to give those fans something good to remember him by in the glow of time passing and nostalgia.

Ooh, I'm waiting for Michael Stipe's album too...funny my wife started watching Rooster with Steve Carell, I knew the voice in the theme song was familiar but it took a little to realize it's Michael Stipe...R.E.M. was an absolute staple of my musical life coming of age in the '80s/'90s.
