Do you make your drums or do you use samples?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I've been asking myself this question for about 3 days and I just wanna get this off of my chest.

A lot of producers I know are scrolling through samples trying to find the right one (just like I used to do, before realizing that those samples could easily be made in a synth, unless it's acoustic samples).

I've been obsessing over synthesizing my own drums for about a few months now, and on my newest project I'm working on, there is only 3 samples and they are layered snares that I tinkered with to get the sound I like.

Almost every single sound on this is made by myself by reverse-engineering drum patches (Sytrus, on the kick) or messing around with Parametric EQ 2 (on the snares)

What about you guys? Do you use samples? do you make your own?

Samples, mainly because I often start with premade drum patterns in Maschine and those are almost always samples.

I like the drum sounds in your track! Did you use side chain compression on the synths?
