When they sound closer to 60's era strats then call.
I've got a strat with stacks I've had side by side high output single coil sized humbuckers in the past that sounded like higher output single coils to match my full sized humbucker although the output was slightly less.
I am interested in the out of phase sound of strats primarily those built in the 60's and 70's and the single coil sound of late 60's through 70's

Based purely on that video, I'd say the Fenders do have better voicing here with a bit more substance to the body and more clarity in the attacks. The former might be somewhat of a subjective thing, but I feel like clarity is often the thing where cheaper pickups struggle... although whether it's a huge problem with any "somewhat reasonable" single coils is another thing and I must say the difference here is pretty small considering one costs about 3 times more(?) than the other.
Now, ofcourse... if this was my guitar we'd use the dremel to fit some humbuckers.

I agree with you. Fender Custom Shop Pickups are great and...cost considerably more. I have budgeting constraints even the cheap ones are about six months out for me.

That Danny Gatton guitar has Ron Ellis pickups in it. Those are $375 each. Not mine, of course.

Thanks all the same. Regardless of everyone's fine selections I'm stuck with the ones I have. And as the Song goes. If you can't be with the one you love.... love the one you're with.

What do you not like about your current pickups? Are they bright or dark?

They are stacks. I cannot get anything close to an out of phase tone out of them. I want real mid 60's to early 70's single coil tone.

Try changing your volume pot to 1M and wiring one of the tone controls as a bass cut.

Did about two hours on the acoustic after midnight so that qualifies as today. Switching to the Parker for the morning run as I've already put in an hour with the linnstrument.

Played my Arts & Lutherie parlor acoustic with my wife (she plays tenor uke), and then my Fender Precision bass for a little bit.

Been playing my 17 inch jazz box unplugged. (D'angelico Prepeir EXL-1) It's got a louder projection than my OM (Tammany)
Mostly scaling. some Travis style picking and later maybe some jazz standard. So for it's been about an hour in.
I may have been to quick to judge on it even though I've had it for a few years now. It's fine for what it does but once you have a great jazz box like my two Sam Ash (made by peerless boxes anything less is less. I still don't like the idea I can't lower the action due to the bridge/saddle design.

I'm in China and playing a new Fender 60s jag that I had shipped over from Japan since it was cheaper to buy here than in the west. I've been messing around with Sue chords and just enjoying things like Police- message in a bottle and Eddie Brikel -'What i am" and messing with adding back up in ableton. I can only carry so much out of China with me so looking at developing my amp pallet in Ableton. If you have any great amp sim suggestions I welcome them. I'm sure there is a forum with a million suggestions.
