Does this sound OK to you? Looking for opinions about a transition in a new song I am working on.

Hallo everyone,
I am working on a new song that includes a rather harsh transition in the drum pattern... IMO it is something that adds value to the overall composition. However, a friend of mine told me that it sounds unnatural and that it should be played at a different tempo than the main theme of the song. What do you think? The transition comes at t = 16 s in the following track.

These things are never really relevant in tiny detail, as a thing can make perfect (or at least acceptable) sense in one song but not in another. It is just another layer here, an interjection. Not jarring as such here with no other context. Me, if doing such a thing would not want to go straight back to the same-same loop but add something that really takes off next. Then fall to Chorus and Ad Lib to fade.

Suggestion: Use an effect or synth between 0:09 and 0:16 to gently announce the gain and rythm change at 0:16 (Some subtle rising pitch or woosh sound or whatever) and change the snare between 0:24 and 0:31 to play on the 2nd beat again so the ear can "snap back" to the main beat a little earlier which makes the listener "forgive" you that gain/rhythm change.

oneguitarband,
Thank you for the review! Now your recording: the drums sound fine to me. Though having a drum fill right before the transition (and a cymbal right at the transition) might help. I am guessing you are using a drum plugin, which is what most people do nowadays. Most real drummers would probably struggle to stay precisely in time with that sequencer synth. I think it sounds pretty good so far.
