This one doesn't store programs and banks like other PlugIns; it stores a complete machine state, mainly including the settings of the knobs and the complete Wave memory, which contains the programs.
That means:
To change a program in the Wave, you have to use the Wave's programming system (i.e., set everything up, then press the DATAT button (or go to DTF: using the arrow keys) and press 9, followed the PROGRAM button, followed by the 2-digit program number that you want to store the program to.
Once that's done, DTF: switches back to 0, your patch is stored in the Wave's SRAM memory, and can be recalled either by MIDI or by selecting it on the PROGRAM Panel... and this machine state can be saved to a .fxb file. If you load it back into the simulation, you'll notice that the synth reboots; after that, your patches are available.
Please note that the WAVE always uses program 1 when it comes up; that's unchangeable in the V6 operating system. So, if you include it in a sequencer, you have to:
a) give it some time to boot after you loaded the sequence
b) send a Program Change message to the PlugIn when the sequence starts, preferrably some milliseconds before the first note is played. Just like the real thing.

Hermann

I reached out to him a year ago and haven't heard back. I think he's still alive, but maybe he stopped maintaining his product? I compared the free WaveSim demo with PPG Wave 3.V, and they sound very close. Also, you can mimic PPG tones in Tone2 Icarus by setting the keytrack on the resampling filter to 100% and setting the frequency between 4-9 kHz.User3 wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 12:58 pmHello Hermann, arakula wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:13 am This one doesn't store programs and banks like other PlugIns; it stores a complete machine state, mainly including the settings of the knobs and the complete Wave memory, which contains the programs.

To me, they do not sound very similar. Thanks. But I need neither PPG Wave 3.V, nor Tone2 Icarus.Korg Supporter wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 2:42 pmI reached out to him a year ago and haven't heard back.
