Yes, he is very good- I noted he is using Ableton Live not Reason in the videos I watchedjsp1979 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 6:39 pm They hired the guy who was let go by Reason to do some videos (Ryan). He's a good one. I figured someone would pick him up.

Such weird messaging…
The email we’ve received doesn’t describe the service. It does say that there’ll be a lite version for us, at some point.
There’s no mention of Tonalic anywhere on the Celemony site. Videos are only available on the Tonalic site and would require that I change my cookie settings.
Framing the whole thing by what it’s not (loops, MIDI, or AI) could be a neat strategy… if they had been paying attention to what the audience actually needs.
The fact that it’s a subscription service (and quite expensive at that) does make it sound like a greedy move… maybe because the company is experiencing financial difficulties?

… and we could have guessed they’d release a sub service given their use of Nice classes 38 and 42:

A new subscription-based thing from the makers of Melodyne.
Two subscription tiers available, with a 1 €/$ trial for the first month available.
https://www.tonalic.com/
What do we think?
- 10 genres, 180 instruments
- Create guitar parts that sound like a real player
- Add bass lines and drums that lock naturally to your tempo and musical feel

I think it's a bit like Vocaloid but for other instruments? As I understand it, it uses your MIDI and then voices it with an instrument and sort of style of playing.
Melodyne users get a free copy of Essentials which they say won't be on general release. Essentials is just guitars..which might actually be of use to me.
I see the full version is 180 instruments, not seen the full list though.
I'll definately give the free Essentials a try, don't think I'd be tempted to upgrade even if it wasn't subscription. My feeling is that generally I'd prefer my own crap playing than exclusively using a virtual session player. (Great for songwriters making demos though).

Agreed, Thread: this SaaS subscription hell that's encroaching MUST be fought off. The backlash needs to be swift, overwhelming, and predictable so these companies finally get the message that this is OUR space and YOU do business here at our pleasure, not the other way around. As if Waves wasn't bad enough, again another big, greedy player tries again. Well, we all know what to do!

I would be all over a Toontrack guitar plugin.Aloysius wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 5:27 pm I could be 100% interested in the product but I am 100% not interested in subscriptions.
I think Toontrack will eventually release a great guitar package.

I find it very frustrating that you must be on the Studio tier (the most expensive one), to control the amount of effects.
I don't see other way to get a dry signal.

The more I play with Essential the more I like it. Even this reduced version is very very good!
