My parents raised me on the "oldies" station in the car all of the time, never heard much of the 70's and 80's until later in my life, or via MTV.
Today's music kind of reminds me of the oldies in that they are just kind of simple motifs or vignettes, just a few parts. Make you feel something and it's over. Lots of 2 minute something songs.
