Not saying it's great or anything like that...Amberience wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 3:25 pm MPC gets most of the resources, people, assets, and time. But when you're pouring 90% of your water into the throat of your favourite child in the middle of the desert, you shouldn't really be too surprised when the other 18 children die of heatstroke.
But, out of their line of products, MPC is the cash-cow.
I can't think of any other product (under their umbrella) that has that kind of potential.
Economic realities can be brutal.
Look at Emulator and Ensoniq. Bought by Creative and vaporized.

For me, the best things about NI have not been NI, but the 3rd party developers libraries for it. Hoping beyond hope they start porting those to other formats. Or that other companies start popping up that evolve the best of NI to something they refused to just to maintain their "industry standard status quo".

LLMs are good at pattern completion. They are not magical replacements for system understanding.jamcat wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:24 pmOh yeah? If anything AI risks creating even more debt because people can now generate thousands of lines of plausible looking code faster than ever, often without understanding the architecture underneath it.

80% of all product code that Google produces is AI generated. AI can analyze large, complex code bases and understand it far better than the programmers who created it in a matter of minutes.
There are now exactly zero massive scale programs and large development teams that are not heavily leveraging AI for development.

I think the fear and loathing that many of us have is that inMusic will focus primarily on making NI part of MPC and allow everything and everyone else who doesn't want to be involved in the MPC ecosystem to wither on the vineJim Roseberry wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 2:43 pm InMusic probably deserves some of the vitriol.
That said, I think they've done a pretty good job developing the MPC platform.
If you look at companies that could have swooped-in and bought NI, InMusic does make sense.
They have the infrastructure... and existing products that at least potentially make it a good fit.
How it actually works out... we'll see.
From a selfish standpoint, I'd like to see more NI options available for the MPC platform.
Kontakt (even a lighter version) running on MPC would be great.
I'd like to see NI actually get back to innovating.
Komplete 26 has a lot of content... but I already have Komplete 14 Collector's Edition.
Not much additional that I'd actually use.
I'm better off purchasing Kontakt 8 a-la-carte.
It seems the people most excited about this are all MPC users, but the very reasons you are excited over are things the rest of us worry about

As someone who uses agentic code tools every day to help me with audio plugin development, aye. Sure. I will keep telling myself that.

Oh, I see. You use tools you don’t believe in to complete your work. Got it.Amberience wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:59 pmAs someone who uses agentic code tools every day to help me with audio plugin development, aye. Sure. I will keep telling myself that.![]()
Listen up everyone, Amberience is warning you to stay far away from the tools he takes advantage of, because they’re dangerous and don’t work!

Yeah, I wish. Unfortunately, you can’t even state how shit actually is in the real world around here without some witch finder general charging in to shout “burn the witch!”
They don’t know how any of this works, but they know it frightens them and must be denied.

The Air instruments designed to work with the MPC in standalone also work as AU and VST, so there's some precedent for further compatibility not making NI an embedded instrument only in the MPC, if that's your worry.IvyBirds wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:49 pm It seems the people most excited about this are all MPC users, but the very reasons you are excited over are things the rest of us worry about
Plus, these are all the new Air instruments, not Loom, Hybrid etc. with technical debt etc.
