Clicking at a spot I dunno why... with EQ vs without EQ, Limiter only at -2.5dB

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

hi, i dont get this example I try to understand, it always or 80% clicks everytime here.

this example i cannoot wrap my head around.

i made a video where you hear a click asap after the hit

the click visible in RX
klick rx.jpg
you see the Limiter on MASTER BUS is working with GR around -2,5dB which should be fine afaik.

so i checked why it clicks and NOT every time but maybe 70% or so. then i chcked the effects and when i switch off the EQ in the hit mixer channel inser (there are 2 sounds playing 1 in another mixer channel the kick and the rise and hit in the selected 2nd mixer channel) then the click doesnt happen.

the strange thing is the EQ has no boost, nothing, only a low cut and low cut of the sides, i tested ProQ4, ProQ3, Shade, all the same results andi wolder why the hit gets around +0.8dB when switching an EQ on.
klick eq setting.jpg
so 1. i dont understand the slight boost when an EQ is activated but 2nd i dont understand why it Clicks at all, the GR is not -5dB or so.

this might solve some issues I found in some tracks when i hear some click here and there, of course it might be a mixing issue from myself or something i need to find out. thx

Phase shifts from the eq may cause peaks which were not there -> clipping -> clicks.

thanks a lot! i only cut the sides, so the low end stays mono, thought this would be no prob all these years.
i might test a clipper then? or what would you maybe recommend?

again thx

If you have the low-cut eq there merely out of habit (and not because you listened and decided the basd needs a cut) then try it without.

Yep ^

Then you could isolate where the click comes from and handle it there on the channel(s)

If it only clicks sometimes, I’m wondering if there’s something happening at that moment that could be causing a CPU spike. Try a very big buffer of 2048 and see if it still happens.
