Hi,

With all those news about Native Instruments giving the impression that a brand hold you by the throat, with sadly common old history of synths like Z3ta+ which are no longer available when the company goes bankrupt, I am calling for all the VST plugins lovers to unite and fight back ...

Would it be possible to keep a list of all the paid plugins that dont require an internet activation to function ? It would allow to gradually go away from being hostages of those companies.

Is my opinion shared ?

There is a thread for this:

Yeah, I need to go back to reading books instead of hitting "Latest Posts" on here like I have been this week.

Camel Audio's older version of Alchemy still works, if you still have the version before Apple bought them out.

I have the player version on my old computer. Could it still be activated on a new computer?

I think we need to accept that while the format is slightly different, software is not that different from hardware. If I own a Hyuond PolyRhuidht IX and they went out of business, then my PolyRhuidht IX dies, It is done as such once there are no more chips. I faced this with my Casio CZ and my EMU Emax 1, seeing that getting a logic board and fitting it would have been more than the box was worth.

As the Bible says, for everything there is a season... churn churn churn.

If it's really that important, you keep a hard copy. Otherwise, you let life move along, and if you really, really need that track from 10 years ago, you load ZeBra 47 and make a new sound. Nothing is ever that unique.

The seasons keep flowing regardless, so we do better not to fight what can only be a losing battle.

I think the only player version I had was a CM version… not sure.

If someone still has the reg file with the .aky extension, and set up the correct full path, there's a good chance it will work. I use it in a couple different linux distros via wine/yabridge, and it's working fine. Reaper finds it during scans. The Alchemy folder is at

/home/me/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/VSTplugins/Alchemy and the folder is linked to

/home/me/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steinberg/VSTPlugins

I was just using Z3ta+ like 2 days ago. The steam version I'm using still works fine.
