Yohng has something much better in the works... As far as I know this was simply a proof of principle.
And I believe L1 was a staple of many producers for a while, although I agree Elephant or 4Front Y Limiter is much better.
His latest limiter is more versatile and capable of anything from a warm vintage sound to a crisp punchy one, with minimal coloration. Dunno how much more I can say really

try some clipping audio with W1 and compare to TLs Maxchagzuki wrote:Compare it to TLS maximizer and Elephant and you'll see.
there W1 is much better - for maximizing audio the
TLs is better

I'm not clear on this. Can you elaborate?verstaerker wrote:try some clipping audio with W1 and compare to TLs Maxchagzuki wrote:Compare it to TLS maximizer and Elephant and you'll see.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention... W1 introduces a pretty much negligible latency of 64 samples (as does his new limiter) - about 1.5ms, allowing you to keep it on your master insert whilst you play MIDI in live or monitor vocals, for example.
Voxengo has 1024 samples delay, which is 23ms at 44100, and TLS has 2400 samples delay, which is 54ms latency, so you'd have to bypass them when playing in live.
Depends how you work, but if you like to mix and compose in parallel it's a huge timesaver, plus a good insurance policy for your monitors

ok let's say u have a mix with several tracks,RandyHancock wrote:I'm not clear on this. Can you elaborate?verstaerker wrote:try some clipping audio with W1 and compare to TLs Maxchagzuki wrote:Compare it to TLS maximizer and Elephant and you'll see.
there W1 is much better - for maximizing audio the
TLs is better
in the master channel the added tracks go over 0 dB which results in digital clipping noises
now put the TLs Max on the master and listen
- the noise/distortion remains
now try the W1 and u'll notice this clipping dissappears (works only to a caertain level)
the other way around - ur resulting mix is not loud enough (even peaks don't go up to 0db) then the TLs Max makes the audio louder and better sounding (just a little bit) than the W1
result: TLs Max works best as a maximizer and the W1 better as a limiter

Ah. Thanks for clarifying. I wonder if this has something to do with internal resolutions (24-bit vs. 32-bit) or i/o resolution. I don't see how it's possible to remove clipping once it has happened unless you're inserting something in the signal chain prior to the clipping and preventing it from happening.verstaerker wrote: ok let's say u have a mix with several tracks,

i know but it doesn't sound good - go and try itchagzuki wrote:I think you're a bit confused here. TLS doesn't let peaks through.
