Hey KVR,
I'm the solo dev behind REVST. The launch build is live:
- Inflect: geometric wavefolder
- Spectra: STFT spectral distortion
- Entropy: probabilistic bitcrusher
- Inertia: slew-rate limiter
All four are VST3/AU for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with free trials available.
Product pages are here:
https://revstaudio.com/
There’s also a launch discount: LAUNCH20 takes 20% off through May 31, 2026.
Happy to answer technical questions or hear feedback.
Thanks,
Revess

What's your copy protection? Phone home or fully offline activation?
Why no audio examples?
I don't like to create an account to login to to download a demo.
With a lot of competition I expect that a developer makes it easy for me to like and to want.
High prices, no audios, no videos, several thresholds to download the demo version, no info found what the demo restrictions are, these are all things that do not make it easy for me to like and want you plugins.

Hi, I’ve not heard of your plugins before.revess wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 12:40 pm Hey KVR,

On audio/video examples: there are demo videos on each product page, but I can see now that they are too easy to miss. They are in the product media carousel, accessible with the arrow next to the main product image/video area. That is not obvious enough, so I’ll make the demo videos more visible and add direct links/labels.
Copy protection: it is not fully offline. Activation is account/code based, and the plugin stores a signed local token after activation. It can run offline between validation checks, but it does need occasional server validation. I’ll add a clearer copy-protection note to the site.
Trials: the trial is 7 days, no credit card required. The account is currently required because trials/downloads are tied to activation state and start from first plugin activation, not from visiting the site. I understand that adds friction.
Demo restrictions: I’ll make this clearer too. The trial is for evaluating the actual plugin for 7 days; after expiry it stops processing until licensed.
I appreciate the criticism. The launch pages clearly need to make the videos, activation model, and trial terms easier to find.

I’ve been coding since around 2017, well before the current AI tooling wave. My background is in creative technology and data science: Creative Systems Design / Music & Technology at HKU Utrecht, followed by a master’s in AI at the VU Amsterdam.
Most of my audio/plugin foundation comes from the Music & Technology side: DSP, interactive audio systems, sound design tools, and building software around creative workflows. I’ve also built VST/plugin work for clients as a freelancer before starting REVST.
I do use modern coding tools where they are useful, but the DSP concepts, product direction, testing, listening decisions, and final responsibility are mine. REVST is not a “prompt and ship” project.

Thanks, I really appreciate that.whassup wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 9:31 pm Yes, I second that. Your honesty is refreshing. I will take a deeper look now at your plugins.
I also took the feedback here seriously and made a small update to the trial flow. You no longer need to go through full account signup just to try the plugins. On each product page, you can now click download, enter your email, receive the activation code, and the download starts directly.
Hopefully that makes the first test a bit more frictionless. Feedback on the flow or the plugins themselves is very welcome.

These are pretty cool, a bit more than I am willing to spend though, very probably... ymmv
I do like inflect, but it's pretty poor on features for that asking price imo. No onboard presets?
No A/B comparison, no visualization for any of the functions, the 3D model is cool, but not that cool. No color options, not an overly impressive oscilloscope imo. The dark UI is nice, but a little bland overall imo.
It sounds good and has some very nice features, but as it is for me $100-ish seems kind of steep. Not saying you shouldn't charge what you want to, for me personally, amidst such a large playing field, it falls a bit short of a premium price like that. *shrug

Thanks, that is totally fair feedback.
I agree that the workflow around the sound matters. Some of the things you mention were already on my list: onboard presets, A/B comparison, better visual feedback, color options, and more UI polish. I have been working on those exact areas, so the next build is moving more in that direction. I will post an update here once the new features and design revamp are ready. I hope you will like the edits
The 3D view is mostly there as an extra visual mode, not really the main selling point. The core thing I care about is whether the folding shapes and controls produce sounds that are hard to get from a normal saturator or clipper.
Appreciate you checking it out and being specific. Even if the price does not land for you right now, this kind of feedback is useful and very appreciated.

I like the plugins and think they sound very good, if you flesh them out a bit more with somerevess wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 2:16 pmpekbro wrote: Sun May 03, 2026 5:04 am These are pretty cool, a bit more than I am willing to spend though, very probably... ymmv

nice features, I will definitely consider them again, with no changes to the cost even.
Thanks for understanding, I will continue to keep an eye on them.

Small update here.
I took some of the feedback from this thread and did a pretty large pass on the REVST plugins. The main changes are:
- onboard factory presets
- A/B comparison
- undo/redo
- persistent color options
- optional section tooltips
- updated visual feedback / visualizers
- broader UI refresh across the bundle
I’ve attached a few screenshots of the updated interfaces. Demo videos and updated product pages are live as well.
Thanks again for the detailed feedback so far. It has been genuinely useful.

The more I use these, the more I like them. I do think we need to discuss some on board modulation possibilities. These beg for modulation, but it should be interesting, like parameter sequences or derivative of some type of analysis method, audio, midi or both. That would be awesome here.
Of course you can use DAW or external mod sources, but that’s nothing special and not super interesting unless you go through some hoops or have some interesting 3rd party options. Or Bitwig to some degree.
I have some stuff so I can demonstrate my point when I am able. Probability tweaking in the least.

Respectfully. As interesting as these look and sound, i will not purchase plugins that require occasional online check ups to stay activated. I’m fine with one-time activations and/or ilok.
