I’m seeing these in the marketplace and they claim to be “powered by SWAM,” but a lot cheaper. I guess they started out as iOS apps, but now they are Windows VSTs. Has anyone tried these? I’d love to buy more SWAM plugins, but the cost is quite high in relation to how much use I’d get out of them.

I had a go at trying them a couple of times but just came away with my heads in my hands. Not because they are no good. It was just the incredible hassle of trying to demo or buy them as it's all done with in-app purchases from what I can tell. It might be a bit different on Windows but on MacOS they make out you can try a free version. But it's just a shell. You download it, install it only to get a window telling you that you have to buy stuff to even see how it's going to perform.
As they make a big play of using it on an iPad I wanted to see how it would work with regular MIDI controllers as that's what I'd use more. I also cannot work out the difference between the different GeoShred levels, like Studio and Pro. I tried the setup twice because I'd forgotten how braindead it was the first time and have now completely given up.

Thanks. That does sound like a hassle.Gamma-UT wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 8:45 am I had a go at trying them a couple of times but just came away with my heads in my hands. Not because they are no good. I didn't find it as much of a hassle as all that, but they don't do a great job of summarizing information like the differences between the different GeoShred apps. They do have a feature matrix comparing versions, but you have to dig through their FAQs to find it.
But if you're wondering about the Naada Plugins for Windows, those appear to be their own plugin/plugins, and appear to just be available as separate instrument bundles rather than a base app + IAP. If you're looking for SWAM specifically, I think the Naada instruments have an independently developed engine. You may have seen "powered by SWAM" in reference to the GeoSWAM instruments for GeoShred. Judging by the demo videos, where there is overlap, the instruments seem to have a different character. Some sound good in the demo videos, others maybe not so much. I tried a couple of them in GeoShred on iOS, and the ones I tried were nice. For my usage, I'm not sure I would want pay what they want for individual instruments on desktop, let alone fork out for entire bundles, certainly not multiple times across platforms.

Hi zerocrossing. The Naada plugins are based on Naada technology and NOT SWAM technology. I'd love to know where you saw "Powered by SWAM" in the context of the Naada instruments, If that's somewhere in the press, I'd like to reach out to that writer and assist them with correcting that information. The Naada instruments have been available in the iOS/ipadOS version of GeoShred for about five years. They are mostly world instruments an area not covered by audio modeling swamp very deeply. Naada is the Sanskrit word for "Sound". They have been used extensively in Bollywood film scoring.zerocrossing wrote: Sun May 10, 2026 4:32 am I’m seeing these in the marketplace and they claim to be “powered by SWAM,” but a lot cheaper. They are now available as Windows VST3 plugins as explained in the page that you referance above, They are available in various different collection configurations that you can see on the page you quoted above.
If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly at support@moforte.com. I usually respond within 20 min during California working hours 7:00am-10:00pm. And within 8 hours outside that.Naada Plugins bring beautifully inspired physics models of Indian, Chinese, and Western instruments to your Windows DAW. Each instrument is based on years of research and features expressive multidimensional controls like Expression, Overblow, Growl, Flutter, Harmonics, and more.

Hi Gamma-UT it sounds like you might have downloaded the free GeoShred Control app (orange icon). That's the free MIDI MPE controller and it's our give back to the MIDI community for supporting MPE. It can be upgraded to the functionality of GeoShred Pro, which is the guitar model, effects, editors, presets AUv3 plugin. It's not intended to be a shell, it really is a free MPE controller. but so many people asked if they could upgrade it that we provided that functionality.Gamma-UT wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 8:45 am I had a go at trying them a couple of times but just came away with my heads in my hands. With regard to the additional instrument models that are available for GeoShred for iOS/iPadOS yes, they are in-app purchases. It is disappointing that you can't try them, but the Apple App Store explicitly disallows trial versions of in-app purchases. Note that there are two groups of additional instruments. There are GeoSWAM which are based on SWAM technology but are more cost effective. And there are Naada, which are based on Naada technology.
There is a chart on the moforte.com home page that shows that differences between the different GeoShreds. The chart is on page 2:As they make a big play of using it on an iPad I wanted to see how it would work with regular MIDI controllers as that's what I'd use more. From the FAQ:

With regard to MIDI controllersBasically Pro for iOS/iPadOS (Green Icon) is everything. Play for iOS/iPadOS (Blue Icon) is a preset player, no MIDI, no AUv3 plugin, no preset editing. Control for iOS/iPadOS (orange icon) is a free MIDI/MPE controller, no built in audio engine. GeoShred Play+Pro or GeoShred Control+Pro and GeoShred Pro are identical. GeoShred Studio for mac is for desktop orchestration and scoring.
GeoShred for Mac and Naada for Windows are best performed, expressively, from GeoShred's isomorphic keyboard on an iOS/iPadOS device. Yes you can use the free GeoShred Control app as an MPE controller to control GeoShred Studio for mac or Naada for Windows. That being said you can perform GeoShred Studio for Mac or Naada for Windows with an:
- MPE controller, use MIDI Configuration "MPE Channel Mode"
- A conventional MIDI controller with a breath knob (CC-2), use the MIDI Configuration "Single Channel"
- A conventional MIDI controller with a breath headset (CC-2), use the MIDI Configuration "Single Channel"
- A conventional MIDI controller with a foot pedal (CC-4), use the MIDI Configuration "Single Channel"
- A conventional MIDI controller with an expression pedal (CC-11), use the MIDI Configuration "Single Channel"
- From a Wind Controller (CC-2), use the MIDI Configuration "Single Channel"

This is correct. They are available as stand-alone apps and VST3 plugins bundled by instrument type (plucked, solo bowed, brass etc ...]But if you're wondering about the Naada Plugins for Windows, those appear to be their own plugin/plugins, and appear to just be available as separate instrument bundles rather than a base app + IAP.
This is correct. In fact, the Naada instruments are totally separate from the GeoSWAM instruments and are based on their own modeling technology. If you're looking for SWAM specifically, I think the Naada instruments have an independently developed engine. You may have seen "powered by SWAM" in reference to the GeoSWAM instruments for GeoShred.
Note that there is some overlap between the Naada instruments and the GeoSWAM instruments, but the Naada for Windows instruments are mostly about world instruments, Things not well covered by the SWAM technology. They are NOT sold as individual instruments on the desktop, they are sold in bundles. So the pricing that you were seeing is for a bundle, not a single instrument. All models have expressive multidimensional controls like Expression, Overblow, Growl, Flutter, Harmonics and more.

Hey I want to thank you for this, as a guitar player with a really cheap and really basic MIDI controller keyboard, GeoShred has been my introduction to a MPE controller.bizdev@moforte.com wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 12:10 am Hi Gamma-UT it sounds like you might have downloaded the free GeoShred Control app (orange icon). Thank you for your responses. However, when I mentioned pricing for individual instruments on desktop, I was giving my thoughts about the instruments rather than the Windows plugins in particular. And according to the pricing lists in the FAQ, the instruments are available individually in GeoShred Studio for Mac. That's what I was looking at when I was considering them for myself. I'm not even saying the pricing is unreasonable, but it is high for a casual hobbyist such as myself. The fact that it's not a single cross platform product so one would have to pay multiple times to use the same instruments on Windows and Mac doesn't help.bizdev@moforte.com wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 12:28 am They are NOT sold as individual instruments on the desktop, they are sold in bundles.
