And the ToneX Plug is for taking the sounds to the beach, the treehouse, the back of a pickup truck, the basement, the barn, wherever you and your guitar can squeeze into :hyper:
Since it's battery powered, even the hot-tub could be on the list :scared:

actually, funny enough I got into TONEX through making a capture of my Softube 2203 setting, because I liked that specific setting on that specific amp so much, and from there I just sat around running pedals into it, and through that I kinda learned how to "properly" use TONEX. fast forward a few weeks of my playing through my capture, I actually went around and purchased a few captures (Tone Junkie, Amalgam, Boutique Tones, etc.) of amps that sounded like I would like to play them, and now these captures plus my own capture of Softube 2203 is pretty much all I use (+ Kuassa pedals).

Satriani Collection is an example of captures done right. Some of the amps aren't even all that great, but they're captured so well that they sound better than many captures of vintage amps, IMO.

I honestly have no idea what IK does wrong because *none* of the IK branded collections speak to me. I can't speak to whether Satriani captures are good or bad, but what I can say is there's literally nothing I can use in that library. I even demoed the new Dumble expansion and the Brown Sound collections, but even then there's like one or two captures that really speak to me. I got the TONEX Max with all the v1 collections, and while some of the captures are up my alley, most of them aren't, and I have no idea why. I guess I'm just not into how most people construct their tones? Like, I'm a simple guy, give me AC/DC tones and I'll be over the moon but apparently everyone gets *those* tones wrong too, because I can think of like one or two captures from IK that can do that type of sound, while Amalgam's Marshall captures are choke full of them. I dunno, it's bewildering.

I always turn down the gain. It’s to the point that I simply set the input gain lower instead of adjusting each individual capture.

The one I've had most fun with lately is the Universal Audio Paradise Guitar Studio plugin. It's a bit narrow in focus but what is there sounds absolutely dead-on "real" in a way that I haven't been able to get from other products.

As I'm not all that much into high-gain tones at the moment, it's the one I've had most fun with. The built in gate is unfortunately the most stupid one I've ever encountered in a guitar oriented product. It comes post-amp.. thus cutting off all delay and reverb tails on stomp boxes that come before the amp. I have absolutely no idea why they implemented it that way. It's no big deal using a 3rd party gate plugin though. FabFilter Pro-G works just fine.

some of it is due to gain, yes - I've hit that issue when I started experimenting with my own captures. however, it's not just gain, it's moreso that other people seem to prefer this "vintage" farty fuzzy compressed kind of distortion which just sound like shit to me, as well as using muffled, mushy cabinets with either too much or not enough low end, no mid definition, and just generally sounding like they're recorded in a garage. I guess I'm just not the target audience for most of these profiles :D

I mostly agree, though there are enough in each collection (I got them really cheap during that last group buy) to make me happy. While going though the captures, I do find myself wondering what the hell they were doing when they set up the capture.

Blank post due to the fact that this site is horribly broken.
