Does anybody know an alternative to SoundCloud...

Anything about MUSIC but doesn't fit into the forums above.

...that hosts its data in Europe but is not owned by an evil company like Univeral and that enables visitors to listen to tracks without being forced/nagged into creating an account?

Post

Two that come to mind are Bandcamp and Audiomack. Audiomack seems to skew to a younger crowd, with a lot of rap, but there's everything there.

Post

Both are hosting in the US. The music I make also doesn't fit Audiomack's profile.

I'm thinking about uploading a few demos, with the finished stuff coming later. But it looks like there is no alternative to SoundCloud. And I hate SoundCloud for that Universal thing and for forcing me to refresh the page 15-20 times until the nag screen goes away.

HearThis is hosted in Germany I think..?

https://hearthis.at/

When I had stuff to share I migrated there from Soundcloud, very similar kind of site but seemed less pushy, got to listen to stuff you wanted rather than have promoted mixes and stuff.

Thanks Gary! I will take a look and ask those guys where they're hosting their data.

If anyone knows more alternatives, let me know. Doesn't matter how obscure. Right now it's only for some crappy demos anyway.

Alotta junk sites... I use alonetone.com as it's ad free, It's JUST a site to upload your crap so you can point others to it to listen to... None of that 'ego pro' 'ego elitist member' crapola...

Post

Thanks for the suggestion but alonetone.com hosts their data in the US so EU laws don't apply. It's unfortunate because its simplicity is right up my alley.

whyp.it is located in Italy, doesn't force people to create an account to listen:

Thanks seangm! Looks promising and features a free account which is enough for a couple of demos.
