Hey TCC, hoping you are good!

Yesterday I created a little track using the Metal Fetishist as a noisy foundation. The cool thing is I used the CV sync out of my Prologue for the first time and it works! I synced the Metal Fetishist to 134 bpm with the Prologue. It may only work with the arpeggio engaged, but it keeps good time to record and line up with drums from the DAW. The Prologue is an inspiration machine hundereds of good sounds.

I’ve written a bunch of new material for my upcoming performances. A big part of the new set is live-sampling synth parts and then manipulating those samples with the Octatrack. Since there are a lot of ways live-sampling/looping can go wrong, I always record a ton of back up clips during rehearsals, so I have recordings I can fall back on, in case something catastrophic happens.
I’ve gotten some great sampler food this way recently. Enough for another release or two… we’ll see where I get by the end of the year, lol

After doing some other basic stuff I went back and listened to this track and...well.. it has issues.
First of all, Metal Fetishist at over 130 bpm becomes a wall-of-sound with its distortion. I tried adding a percussion sample with a bit crusher and it was completely lost in the mix. :dog:
I think I need to delete it and start over at a slower pace with maybe one or two hits per measure because distortion is one of those things that's best (more effective) in smaller doses.
I have had the idea of buying a Gorse Lathe Noise + Drone Synthesizer, then playing it inter-dispersed with Donald Trump speeches, but I don't want to make a statement as much as making music I may want to listen to in the future.

Agreed. :tu:

Good plan.

Played some drums on a small arrangement I did on Monday. I liked the beat a lot an wanted to merge both but realized I played 9/8 over 5/4 :dog:
So I took the beat and made a new pattern in 9/8, arranged it a bit and am pretty happy with what I got so far. The next big step to get away from making 4/4 music :)

Well I made that track into something like I've never heard before...experimental techno?
Anyway, it's not going on the next release because that is reserved for ambient. After playing all day I remembered I wanted to make a video with the visualizer included in FL Studio. I'd never used it before and it was 9:00pm  so I quickly made this:

The track was started after waking up at 3-something last summer. Honestly, I like how it turned out.

Yesterday I finally got the Manifold Research Centre Antilope and so I had to run it to make sure it worked properly before going on vacation. I had already read the manual, so it was quick to start. Powered fine from my computer's USB 3.0 port.

It's all still a bit nuts, but opened up MAKID (Ableton projects manager) the other day and saw I had a track that I wanted to come back to from 2024. It's super chill and I had forgot about it. I switched computers about the same time and had to remove my 2Caudio verbs and I guess I shoved it to the side.

I don't think I ever intended to publish, but why not?

This paired well with a gummy 1/8th of 5mg for me, because I'm a lightweight.

I started creating a drum track for a Zappa cover, it’s for a friend of mine. I’m using Addictive Drums - Black Velvet kit.

I’m in Amsterdam, so no studio, but I did put the tracks that will be on the next album on my phone with 01,02, etc. in front so I can hear how they sound in the order I think they should go.

This may well be the trick bit-o-kit that finally gets me off-my-ass to make that noise-box-to-end-all-noise-boxes I've been obsessively revising and accumulating stuff for, for at least (oh gee, I-dunno) 20 years... 8)

Still looking for a new place to live. Rents have gone up a lot since I moved here. Gonna have to stop buying so much music gear. 🙃
Boy that's rough! I hope you can find a decent place.
Thanks Justin. I finally found a new place. Had to cross the border into Scotland to get a house I can afford, but have been here a month now. Still getting the studio set up. There is less space in the new location, so may have to part with some gear, but am surrounded by beautiful open countryside, so cant complain. Thanks to everyone else for the good wishes.

Glad to hear you have found a place and you are getting settled. Take care!
