Hello. First submission:
https://soundcloud.com/brouedhelminthe/ ... al_sharing
DAW: Ableton 12
Effects: stock EQs and Compressor
Synth instances: 16
Reverb/chorus effects are achieved with stacks of the synth. While not necessary it was fun to try it this way. Also, I am pretty new to all of this, so I am open to feedbacks about the mix and mastering.

That's OK. You can replace the audio file up to the end of the submission date, so, get a new mix done and replace so we can hear your track in all its glory.BrouedHelminthe wrote: Tue May 26, 2026 10:54 amThanks! And no, it's not on purpose. I forgot to spread the instruments while mixing.

Gave this one a go as I'm a huge fan of this sort of thing.
Loved Deimos. First impression was one of limitations but a few sessions with it has taught me so much.
Despite modest LFO and envelope features the oscillators have huge tweaking potential. Add in the FM, feedback etc. and you start to realise there's a universe of possibilities within a "limited" set of parameters.
DAW: Reaper
11 track instances of Deimos (3 for percussion within Reaper containers to allow easier drum programming)
2 tracks have ReaVerbate (stock reverb) plugin
1 track has ReaDelay (stock delay) plugin
Master bus has ReaLimit (stock limiter) plugin
No other eq, compression or additional plugins.
Was aiming for a "less is more" thing, recording wise. I probably ended up with a "less is less" result but it's always fun to try to come up with something!
This was a great learning exercise and the lack of stock presets forced me to mainly make my own. That said, the main voice is a slightly tweaked preset doing the "vocoder" noises and I wouldn't have been clever enough to come up with that one by myself.
Big thanks to Tom Trnk for building a wonderful synth.

Okay, I'm not happy at all with this, but I'm gonna call it and submit it. I've been in the exact opposite mood of this music this month.
Courageous Energy - 7 instances of Deimos. No effects. (EDIT: Also, I use FLStudio.)
Meant to be a heroic hype-up theme; the kind where the brave pose gets used and the hero turns the tables with courage and determination.

Deimos is a great, free synth. I had a lot of fun, hope you enjoy. 55 instances in Logic ProX. Logic EQ, Reverb, Compressors, Nova Free, OTT on kick only, special guest appearance by Valhalla SuperMassive, which I rarely use but I know is well loved by OSC'rs.

Here's my submission for this month. What a great synth! For example, the embedded meters are fantastic and should be mandatory for all synths. I only found a few minor things that I didn't like.
Produced in Cakewalk. 16 instances of Deimos. Magic7, LFX-1310, OTT, W1 Limiter as the external FX.

I'm back to reclaim my wooden spoon, so here is my submission for this month, and some notes if anyone is interested.
Happy enough with it, production is lacking but content with the composition. Its a bit of a bop, I get vibes of walking down the street and hearing snippets of peoples conversations as you go past, hence the title.
I REALLY liked working with Deimos, absolutely going to keep this around. The baked in scope and analyser are fantastic. I love seeing what is being output, in particular when tweaking the filter to curate the mix from the very start. I also liked having the limitation of only 2 oscillators, I find hard limitations mean the creativity is forced upon you (not that I think what I came out with is overly creative, listening to the other submissions I have myself annoyed I didn't try to be more creative
)
In general I tried to be more conscious of mixing and balance as I was working. Things like using the filter to curate the different tracks, and being more mindful in the composition to make room for everything (everyone blasting 7th chords got a bit much).
I tried to leverage the features of Deimos as much as I could as well, but I did tweak the eq a little to try and tighten up some tracks to stop things stepping on each other. It sort of worked, but its still a bit of a messy overlap on the lead tracks, aaaaaand there is a bunch of percussion that's somewhat masked. Which is kind of disappointing, because I really liked the percussion on the track; I might end up ripping parts out and using it on a new track (one day).
Overall I think this is a personal improvement; even if the end result doesn't show it, it was a more conscious effort across the entire process, which is some sort of progress.
I still need to explore other plugins and tools, and consider how I can use them from the get go. I ran out of time this month to focus on the production side proper; I lost time reworking the composition several times, it kept nagging at me.
Maybe next attempt I will whip out some reverb and side-chain ducking.
