Hey everyone! Try for free this new plugin I made. It's called Tesseract Echo.

It started as a multi-tap magnetic tape delay, but it evolved into a full sound design playground. You can use it as a classic echo, or you can play it like a physical instrument.

Here are the juiciest features:

 MIDI Instrument Mode (Karplus-Strong): You can route MIDI notes directly into the plugin. The delay time tunes to the incoming pitch, and the feedback loop becomes a physical string. You can literally play the delay like a synthesizer.

 4-Head Tape Engine: It features four independent read heads. You can morph their spacing and switch seamlessly from standard triplets to golden ratio or heavy swing.

 Built-in FDN Reverb & Ducker: It includes a lush dual-stage diffusion reverb. You can route it Pre, Post, or End. There is also a built-in sidechain compressor, so your transients always stay punchy and clean.

 Tape Degradation: The modulation section includes a true Composite Wow & Flutter LFO, plus a "Glitch Tape" stepped random wave.

 Safe Mode: You can crank the master feedback up to 100%. A dynamic protection system prevents speaker blowouts and creates beautiful, infinite ambient drones.

It is 100% free and available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

:!: You can grab it here: https://ko-fi.com/s/ba2e3a1eeb

Download it, mess around with the MIDI mode, and let me know what you think! Any feedback or question is super welcome.

Looks intriguing.

The page says "Download the VST3 for Windows now and shape your space" and the download is for Windows only, so I wouldn't know where to find a Mac or Linux build, but you mention these platforms in your post above. Are there separate builds available?

unzip the downloaded zip file
open the "Manual Installer" folder
open "MacOS" folder
find the various pluginformats (aax, au, vst....)

Whoops, I was too quick to see the .exe and not even look at the folder! Anyway, I de-quarantined the .component file and moved the presets into my Documents folder.

Unfortunately I'm just getting howling noise from the presets. The safe mode button is on but the noise level is pretty intense. Something is definitely wrong at the moment.

Thank you

Thank you so much for reporting this! May I ask your OS version? And also if the noise comes only from presets or is always there?

Unfortunately I don't own a mac so I couldn't make proper tests, your reports help me fix it 100%

Interesting!
Thank you for creating and sharing
Would you mind elaborating a bit about the modelling part (I mean : how accurate are you aiming at when it comes to mimicking tape echo behaviour? Is it very colored? Does it self oscillate like a tape echo, or like a BBD delay?)?

Hi! Thanks for the question.

To be completely transparent, I wasn't aiming for a strict 1:1 analog emulation of a specific vintage unit. It’s more of a digital delay engine built around tape-inspired mechanics.

Here is how the modelling behaves under the hood:

By default, it is actually not too colored. However, the feedback loop contains dedicated High-Pass and Low-Pass filters, along with a saturation stage that pushes the sound while lowering the ceiling (with automatic gain compensation at the delay output). So your sound gets squashed and filtered at every iteration.

The "tape" feel comes mostly from the time manipulation. The delay time changes are smoothed, and you can manually set the automation "Glide" time. Furthermore, the modulation section includes a specific "Tape" LFO shape that mimics composite Wow & Flutter.

It self-oscillates extremely easily! Because each feedback head feeds audio into the next, the runaway oscillation gets dense easily, behaving much more like a pushed magnetic tape loop than a BBD delay. In fact, it goes into self-oscillation so aggressively that I specifically built the "Safe Mode" limiter just to keep it from becoming unstable too often! The maximum self oscillation occurs when you bring the 4 taps feedback (Regeneration) at 100% and the master feedback up to 120% for a total 4.8x in amplitude at every iteration.

Hope this answers your question!

Yes, thank you!

Looks cool, thanks for sharing this with us!
A well-behaved signature.

I'm using MacOS 26.5 and Logic 12.2.

The problem is with the delay part of the plugin. The reverb is working fine but the delay has nothing of the input signal and is just noise.

Thanks for the detailed info! The fact that the reverb works perfectly but the delay outputs noise is actually a huge clue. This means it's not an OS compatibility issue, but likely an uninitialized memory bug (garbage RAM) in the delay buffer, or a quirk with how Logic Pro handles variable block sizes dynamically. I'm checking the memory allocation and management right now. Thanks for your patience, I hope to have a fix as soon as possible!

I have just released the V1.1 Hotfix that addresses this exact issue! The updated files are already live in the Ko-fi download folder.

Would you be so kind as to download the new version and let me know if it runs smoothly in Logic now? Thanks again for your patience!

Thanks, it seems to be working now.
