I used to have about 900 tone net captures, deleted them all and installed about 100 newer ones.
The plugin was using 3.5 GB before, now it's over 5 GB.
It's got nothing to do with the downloaded installers in the Documents folder and I can't find what's taking all that space. Any advice?

Look in the app data (local, roaming) folders. Many programs save installers there.
If you know the names of the installers, run a search for it.

How are you determining the size?Danilo Villanova wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 3:29 am I used to have about 900 tone net captures, deleted them all and installed about 100 newer ones.

EDIT: disregard. Program Files\IK Multimedia\TONEX\ is using up over 8GB of HD space.
Do we trust that's accurate?
Seriously, I have a massive ToneX library, the tone models themselves are tiny, but I do also have a a crap ton of IR's in ToneX. My Documents\IK Multimedia\ToneX folder is 1.7GBs. Windows Add or Remove Programs reports 5.82 GB. I'm not sure how it's calculating that but methinks it's just wrong.
You could always back up your ToneX library and uninstall and see if you magically get 5GB of free space back on your C drive. If you get way less, it might just be Windows. If you do get 5GB's, then files are being placed somewhere non-obvious (I already checked ProgramData and Users\\Appdata\Roaming and didn't see anything).

Searched there, but there's nothing that big. But I went to Program files and the TONEX folder is over 8 GB there.Cuauhtli wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 3:01 pm Look in the app data (local, roaming) folders. Many programs save installers there.

There's a TXMMEngine2 that's 4.67 GB and a "libs" folder that's 2.43 GB

my txmmengine2 folder is also 4.67 GB
i don't have a libs folder. I guess those are the new captures you've downloaded?

Yep, same here. I guess the V2 modeler engine is indeed big. If anything, Windows is understating the size.

I would use programs like WinDirStat/MacDirStat/etc to take a closer look. Maybe there are some leftover temporary files which take up a lot of space. If this doesn't help I would try to remove unnecessary stock data.
