New distortion and feedback plugin for hard music: Terminal

Hi there KVR, I've just released Terminal, a distortion and feedback plugin meant for producers who use distortion as an instrument rather than a tool.

Terminal features six discrete analog circuit models (tube-style, germanium, asymmetric harmonic distortion, wavefold, and two LED clipping circuits.)

A sweepable peak EQ sits pre or post distortion, with selectable Q. The widest works simularly to a sweeping mid on a console.

A lower section adds feedback back in from the output with variable buffer time for self-oscillation, pitch wobble for L/R instability, and HP/LP filtering before the output.

A true single-sideband frequency shifter shifts L and R channels in opposite directions.
A real-time oscilloscope shows your signal as effected by the breakage.

UI is freely scalable in size

Oversampling is coming in the next free update

Really like this thing!

One of those rare distortions where it's difficult to make a bad sound.

A few suggestions / requests:

Ability to see knob levels, without having to move the knob (very important imo)
Ability to type in specific values.
I would say both of these are very important when we are turning knobs and experimenting.
We need to be able to make a note of which settings are working, and be able to quickly return to them.
And on that same subject, an A/B would be ideal. Then we can quickly compare between two plugin states.

It would also be nice to have tempo sync on the buffer, if easy to implement.
Could lead to some nice experimentation.

A nice selection of circuits that all sound useful, but having a way to warp those circuits would be ideal, and let us fine tune the distortion for specific kicks etc. (Though if that would result in the plugin creating some less than desirable sounds, I understand your reluctance to do it)

Overall, I'm really impressed with this, and I think I will pick it up, but really, I need to see knob values without having to move them, before I rely on this heavily.
Stereo and Shift display this perfectly, and this is what I think is needed with Drive, Circuit, FB etc. (maybe make text entry boxes smaller and only appearing when hovered over, to avoid clutter)

Thanks for the nice comments _al_! - All good suggestions, sometimes working on something can cloud your judgement a bit but the values being shown is a no brainer, will add also the ability to enter in values. None of the beta testers have requested this either but I will make it happen ASAP Regarding A/B, which DAW does not allow that natively please? Thanks

I'm using FL, which has a function to save a plugin state, and switch between two states, but it requires clicking through a menu in a dropdown box, which is extremely annoying, and also, sometimes when I attempt to "Flip with spare state" I accidentally click the "Save to spare state" option instead (directly underneath), which automatically overwrites the plugin state I was using to compare (or the one I'm working on).

It's all just very annoying and uncomfortable, and I only really use it when I am certain it's worth the risk of using.

But hey... by the sounds of things, most DAWs have this function built in yeah?
I actually didn't realise that, so I wont bother mentioning this again.

(honestly though... I do think that in 2026, every plugin should have A/B and Delta).
