Isn't Dreamsynth basically Ensoniq ESQ-1?

I guess it is Yamaha CS01 mk II.

Edit: I missed the comment that it is something digital, so it has to be something else then.

Yamaha DX100?

green triangle and 1.
The only thing that comes to mind is the Ensoniq ESQ-1.

I think the teal triangle in the video is a clue:

Yeah, it's the ESQ▽1. Loved it back in the day (it was my bandmate's). I have the Arturia SQ 80 V, so I'm not sure this will be different enough to warrant a purchase. I'm happy to be convinced :D

nvm

Let me guess:
A skeuomorphic looking ESQ-1 they'll boast an expanded polyphony to 32 (up from 8 ), expanded the sequencer, and added effects (which it originally didn't have.)

You heard it here first, folks.

There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

Yes as much as I loved my ESQ-1 back when it was new, since I own the SQ80V it might be hard to justify buying a Cherry Audio version. A VFX emulation would be an insta purchase.

As with every CA release I'll try the demo and decide from there.

I wonder if Cherry Audio is going to make another free synth like they have done in the past? They could easily make a free stripped down version of the Dream Synth and call it the ESQ1

I've tried the Dreamsynth demo (but never bought it) and found it to be nothing like an ESQ 1 so a stripped down version would be even less appealing.

However I did find this that seems to fit the teaser video perfectly:

I used to own a VFX and as I wrote earlier an accurate emulation would be an insta-buy for me.

One can only hope that's what the new release will be....... :hyper:

Aside from the constantly dead battery, the noisy key action, and the buttons that either stopped working or got pushed into the chassis, the VFX wasn't actually that bad. Maybe Cherry Audio will take the same approach they used with Roland's SH series and create a single instrument that combines the ESQ-1, VFX, and ASR. That would be nice.

It's probably going to be like the SQ80V and be a mashup of the ESQ-1 and the SD-1 (hence a lot of emphasis on the 1). The latter got the transwaves from the VFX but also the digital-only, non-resonant filter. Modelling the analogue filter from the ESQ-1 sidesteps that, though I suppose they might include the pretty standard digital filter from the later models for completeness. So it gets the green triangle and not the red one of the SD-1 (though all the screens were blue-green vacuum-fluorescent in those synths).
