Obligatory VS2 update and preset pack shilling :hihi:

Update is listed as 'featuring texture support inside shaders, drag and drop media, BPM detection, and a handful of improvements that make the whole thing feel snappier.'

New preset pack is 'Battles' (by Fernando Kopp) and seems to be focussed on simple 3D geometric shapes...

Wow. Didn't know this thing existed. Been looking for something like this for a while now. Will watch a few tutorials and see what's it about.

Just so you know, Imaginando do offers and sales regularly, so you can get it fairly cheap if you keep an eye out...

The inconsistent timing of some of the elements reaction here is just annoying to look at.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

It might be whatever the Shader parameters are being controlled by. The Shader in a layer (and there are 8 layers that you can use for Shaders) can have a few parameters, and VS2 has quite few modulators (4LFO, 2EG, 4 audio-triggered envelope follower-y things etc) with the Matrix letting you apply a mix of all of those modulators to each single parameter individually.

(One nice thing about VS is that shader code, even for content packs, is available to edit and make derivatives from, so its also something that could potentially be tweaked...)

:tu: this!
i paid 20 quid for the actual visual synth, and as you say, sales happen fairly regularly.

although, i now buy all the expansion packs, out of guilt for feeling like i stole the vs :hihi:

Thanks guys - for putting potential sales on my radar. Much appreciated.

Just a question for you who have worked with it before. How fixed are the expansion packs in terms of user configuration? Can you swap images to your own etc or is that stuff fixed?

The expansions packs include presets, which are the full setups of multiple layers, but also will include new shaders, which sit on a given layer(*), and possibly images and/or videos, both of which would sit on a given layer too. (There are 8 main layers, one shader/image/video/text/input source etc per layer plus a background layer which can just contain a video or image)

(* There's also a new shader type in the very latest version which manipulates an image you can load into -it-, but its the shader that sits on the layer)

You can make your own derivatives of any presets, including swapping out the contents of any layer, for your own. Also, all the images and videos that come with VS itself, or the expansions, are accessible for you to use.
As I mentioned in passing earlier, you also get access to the -code- for any of the shaders, and can easily duplicate them, to derive your own shaders from those provided....

Hmmm, I think I just made it sound like you had to create your own preset to change contents of a layer, but you dont, you can do that 'live', whether you ultimately save the changes or not.
