Zebra 3 unison's weird resonance.

So we did spend the time and could reproduce it easily in Massive and Dune 3. It's an artefact that you get when optimising unison detune for low phasing.
In future we might add unison detune laws, and then we can add one that takes more phasing into account, with less of the effect observed here.

If so, then I can hear it in the second example as well, the Hive 2 example, but it isn't as prominent.Flogs wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 10:50 am Is it a metallic pulsing sound that almost sounds like a buzz?
I might try to recreate it in Z3, then isolate it and run it through a trance gate and then through Rhizomatic Synestia effect plugin. Or maybe the other way round with Synestia first..

Not the buzz. I think you catched something different. Because Hive 2 doesn't have it. I reffer to that metallic sound that sounds almost like an effect created by your brain.Flogs wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 11:09 amIf so, then I can hear it in the second example as well, the Hive 2 example, but it isn't as prominent.Flogs wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 10:50 am Is it a metallic pulsing sound that almost sounds like a buzz?

Anyway, I'm glad it has been spotted and I'm not the only one.

I don't have the synths you mentioned. I tested against Hive 2, Vital, Serum and PigmentS. But what to do with this is your will. I just thought that it would be ok to bring this to your attention. Especially that Hive 2 doesn't behave like that.

Wow, I hear it... There's a backbeat of dominant 7th for the first 18 seconds. You can pull tempo data from it.Igro wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 8:28 am So here it is. Zebra 3 vs Hive 2. This "other" is Hive 2 now

I think that's the oscillator beating I complained about during beta phase. You can hear it with just a single oscillator too -- that metallic whomp-whomp-whomp. It's more pronounced in Unison. Which I don't hear so obviously in Hive 2. I think it is still there in Hive 2, the beating rhythm is just slower and more disperse so it blends more. With Z3 it is reallyyyy apparent.Igro wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 8:28 am So here it is. Zebra 3 vs Hive 2. This "other" is Hive 2 now

First is Zebra 3. Listen to how this resonance disappear at approximately half way (or even at 1/3). Then will be Hive 2 and there is no resonance or whatsoever. Use headphones obviously. I'm not talking about the unison beating sound, but this metallic "Viu viu".
