Maybe it's because I don't do orchestral stuff, but I don't know why this is a big feature?
How is it different from making a template with all the stuff you will use?
How many people work 2-3 sessions at the same time? I never do.
Maybe I'm missing its point.

I have no use for it either but how I understood this feature it is made for people working with different sessions (open) which share similar instruments...Fornicras wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2026 2:09 pm Maybe it's because I don't do orchestral stuff, but I don't know why this is a big feature?

The main point is that without this feature and you have session "A" loaded, all the used instruments and FX are already loaded, haven taken time to load, already take a lot of RAM, etc...
Let´s say you have 5 different versions of the same song and you want to compare them side by side...
Before this means 5 times the same song completely and fully loaded with each song has it´s own instances of the (in this case) same instruments used...
5 times loading time
5 times CPU use even on idle
5 times RAM usage
etc...
With this new feature you could make all of the instruments being shared between this 5 seperate sessions and when you open them all =
1 time loading time for the instruments
1 time CPU use even on idle
1 time RAM usage
...
As I said... it´s nothing I would ever use but there seem to be others for whom this might be a biggie...especially with many orchestral libraries which are known for being RAM heavy and taking quite a bit of time to load...

I think it's time we need to come up with an actual list guys, that list our feature requests and tell Fender hey dude, this is what we want. They destroyed the forum/active petitions for requests for many years..
Right now this whole AI thing is starting to make me fear Fender doesn't really know what their target audience wants. Most of us are converts from the older larger DAWs, cubase & pro tools ( artists/recording/mix engineers ) but somehow in the last few years this daw has had an identity crisis. Wasting time and money on trying to gauge the next big hit, that's exactly what most of us are probably against anyways. The youtube whatever these guys are called, do not need to set the trend for us as a collective group of professionals/semi professionals, whatever.
My take has been the same thing over n over, we need a better browser that we can tag our audio samples/instruments/efx. ( Not some I'll pay you monthly thing for a feature like splice )
I know there's guys that have been asking for automation features for years as well. We're not asking for highly complex features, they are all very reasonable.

Yeah, I'm not even asking for new automation features, just for automation to be easier to reassign, duplicate, and move around.
Though if I were to ask for a new automation feature, it would be to randomize automation start time and values, so you could create, say, a 5% variation in duplicated data. This would be very useful for automating a section of orchestral instruments, like 14 solo violins, where they all are playing the same thing, but you want some natural, human variation in the performances.

My requests are all small, but add up to be a lot when I'm doing sequencing-heavy projects.
Better, or customizable, piano roll note pencil tool behavior would be my #1. I want it to remember the length and velocity of the last placed or touched MIDI note.
#2 would be true MPE pitch editing.
#3 is that I want the audition/scrub tool to work more like it does in DP or FL or Reaper, where you can drag it around freely or hold down over a chord and it plays it indefinitely, instead of being just another way to trigger regular playback.
Other stuff: I want the eraser tool to work the same no matter how it was invoked. I want to be able to do time selections in the piano roll. I want the marquee selection box to not flicker as it's being dragged out. I want the occasional random pauses in the GUI after completing an action to, well, not happen. I'd like to be able to use VSTs that generate or transform MIDI notes/data more easily. Fix the off-by-1-sample thing that sometimes happens to audio clips when rendering offline.
I would try to send this to Fender or whatever, but I'm pretty sure it would just go into a black hole at this point, so I'm just rambling out loud here
Their community engagement stuff seems kind of performative, judging by how they trashed all of the links and everything from the Studio One branded site.
I like Fender Studio (well, I'm still on Studio One) a lot. I'm mildly concerned for its future, but they've also been steadily improving it, despite adding a bunch of stupid AI stuff now. So, I dunno.

Automation clips would be the only thing missing for me for Studio One. Personally modulators and automation clips are interchangeable for me, I wouldn't need modulators if I had automation clips.

Hmm, I'm still not impressed with FSP8. And I'm getting more and more fed up with all these integrations with third-party services. Okay, Melodyne was necessary because they hadn't built anything of their own into the software. But then came TuneCore, Splice, Tonalic, Moises, …
Sigh, fine. I guess I'll just skip v8 and hope for v9.
EDIT: Perhaps it’s harder for an all-purpose DAW (covering everything from orchestral music and film scoring to rock, pop, and EDM) to stay on track. For example, Ableton and Bitwig can focus more on their specific target audience...

So you've never watched any of Joe Gilder's videos, then? Do Ableton or Bitwig employ anyone like him to make videos for their DAWs?ffx wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2026 7:25 amOh, I didn't know that Fender Studio is made for rock music only... Damn! Will sell then.
Is it, though? I can't see it improving our live performances, where we pre-load the whole set before we start, in song order, and quickly flip between them. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, though, and it's a the kind of thinking I like to see from the developers.aMUSEd wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2026 8:32 amOK so the best new feature is the Shared Virtual Instrument rack and Instrument Sets functionality - this is a genuine innovation and very useful
I'm not sure that it works like that, though. We can load a whole set - 15 or 16 songs - and flip between them pretty much instantaneously on stage without bringing my humble little PC to its knees or anything. Maybe this feature is just a formalisation/re-jigging of what SPro has always been doing?Trancit wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2026 3:28 pmThe main point is that without this feature and you have session "A" loaded, all the used instruments and FX are already loaded, haven taken time to load, already take a lot of RAM, etc...

Why? Who do you think you are to be telling them what to do? I'm happy to let 'em have at it and do the things they feel are important. If they ask for my input, I'll happily give it to them but they don't ask, presumably because they already have a long list of things to do, so I am happy to let them get on with it.trusampler wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2026 3:43 pmI think it's time we need to come up with an actual list guys, that list our feature requests and tell Fender hey dude, this is what we want. Or maybe you just don't know who Fender's target audience is?Right now this whole AI thing is starting to make me fear Fender doesn't really know what their target audience wants.
Or maybe they are trying to broaden the product's appeal? e.g. I have no need of a clip launcher - but it stays out of my way so I don't care that it's there -Most of us are converts from the older larger DAWs, cubase & pro tools ( artists/recording/mix engineers ) but somehow in the last few years this daw has had an identity crisis. No, maybe you need that but I don't. In fact, I can't think of a bigger waste of dev resources. My take has been the same thing over n over, we need a better browser that we can tag our audio samples/instruments/efx.
