Does anyone know of an app (windows or linux) that will run the same as Jamzone?

The last straw was the latest "upgrade" that effectively wipes out background audio, so a user can now no longer play their own instruments in the background.

JZ does have minimal hosting, however it is flaky and it fails more often than it works, plus the tech side is very lacking as in all you can do is assign an instrument and channel.

You probably won't like my answer but your brain and courage are the best things here. The longer you use those DIFY apps, the more you slow your ability to do the real work. As an example, my father (Guild Hall London Cathedral Organist + Choirmaster and Harpsichord) was pretty anti-Metrognomes. Most people were slaving themselves to the gnome in hope it built timing in them. He saw this as unwise as it took timing from the player and put it outside, just like taking lots of Vit C means your body (or brain in this case) does not feel the need to build the vitamin, the method of timing. Or with DIFY toys, the ability to make music that really works and flows.

Sure, you make a passably organized mechanized noise, but there is no Art in there.

Take this as another opportunity to step up to making real music as you feel it. It really is not so hard once you get the core understanding and Practice it by Doing it so you gain real experience.

:-)

p.s. even if you donate, this course if followed even passably, will not only be cheaper than any BST, but set you up for life. How do I know, well I lived this all; both from leaning on DIFYers to stepping up (after paying a guy $60ph for less than this covers)
