Yes they do, glad to see Cherry Audio making one, hopefully they make more. This is an area where Arturia also really shines as well

A skeuomorphic looking ESQ-1 they'll boast an expanded polyphony to 32 (up from 8 ), expanded the sequencer, and added effects (which it originally didn't have.)

I find Arturia's SQ80 is a lot easier to use. Doesn't help that I don't have a giant monitor, so I keep having to click repeatedly to click on those little tabs to change pages, etc. on the CA one. Still need to spend time demoing it.

In theory I guess the Arturia SQ-80 should have everything and more that this has right? But I guess there's always the Cherry vs arturia sound, which is weird that the difference should exist in a digital emulation, but probably does anyways.

+ Arturia SQ80 has the Transwaves & all the hidden waves from the origial SQ80 & ESQ1. There are some online comparisions between the hardware and Arturia's and they are pretty much undistinguishable. They really did an astonishing work on that one.

I'm sure Cherry Audio's ESQ1 is the same too and it's really on par with the hardware but if you already own Arturia SQ80, execpt the dual layers I'm not sure if this one brings anyhting new to you. For someone who doesn't own the Arturia one, it's a cool option for sure. I much prefer the Arturia's clean workflow and UI though.

I received a response from CA support in regards to the pops and clicks while playing some patches. So far it was only a request for more info but at least they are responsive in a rapid fashion. Hopefully they can address the issue.

I notice when importing some patches from .syx that the Pan is tilted left or right which I don't think was intended to sound that way on the hardware. I seem to remember this was an issue with SQ80V import as well at least early on. Env 4 Pan Mod seems to be the culprit at this point.

To be fair, of the banks I've imported so far most of the patches are not too impressive but one or two in each bank are worth tweaking further. Just adding FX brings them to life. I used to run my hardware ESQ through a Yamaha SPX90 but the built in FX in the CA version sound far superior to me.

I've dedicated all day tomorrow to trying to remember how to program an ESQ after all these years which may be no small task since I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast these days....while I'm eating breakfast.

Anyway i enjoy owning both CA's and Arturia's version. Hey, if one can own three or four MiniMoog emulations there's nothing wrong with owning both Ensoniq emulations.

Got the cherry audio ESQ 1 today. It is fantastic! Been needing those factory presets for decades. Thanks Cherry audio!

I might go for the 3 for $99 deal and grab the synth that way, along with probably the Mercury8 and not yet sure about the 3rd one.

Maybe the Chroma just to be different. I have many of the same synth plugins, Minimoog, CS-80 emus, etc. and it would be nice get something else for a change.

I'm having a ton of fun with the ESQ-1 one this morning. It's starting to feel familiar again.

The dual layers really open up a lot of possibilities and thankfully each layer has its own Arp/Seq although I need to get my head around them further as they are more powerful than first glance would indicate.

I do wish it had Poly Unison but Mono still has it uses. The core sound keeps the grit and attitude of the hardware while still having a pleasant output signal.

Not going to lie the tiny buttons can be hard to hit and the digital letters and numbers do my old eyes in but there is the "Focus" mode which allows a closer look.

There's a focus mode on the synth or your DAW? If the synth, where is it?

I think all Cherry synths have focus mode. I don’t find it useful at all, personally. In some ways, I think the necessity of implementing this is an admission the main interface is lacking and not entirely successful, but ymmv
