Just got Cubase 5 this weekend and I am LOVING it so far (was using SX3 before).
Only thing though is I can't get VariAudio to work really.
For example, bounced down a VSTi with like 10 notes played and load the VariAudio on the bounced part but only see like 1 note that I can alter. And when I do, it sounds like a robot is dying. Any opinions or suggestions on VariAudio guys?

In the inspector, there are the two "modes". One is called "Pitch and warp" and the other is called "Segments". There are little buttons next to each of them. Click on one of them to switch to that mode.

I would also recommend checking the video tutorial included on one of the DVDs. very well made and explain many aspects of handling and editing vari audio segments.

Best,

Yes, that is a problem with the Waves Bundle. Besides the long startup times, you will also notice an increased memory usage.

Waves has released a patch to solve these problems, though they do not advertise it. You should get in contant with Waves Support and they will supply instructions to download a new version of the 6.0.7 Waveshell-VST file from their FTP site. Then have to trash the "Vst2xBlacklist, Vst2xPlugins, VstPlugInfo" in the Nuendo/Cubase App Data folder along with the Waves prefs located at "C:\Documents&Settings\your user\Application Data\Waves Audio\Preferences"

Hey Fredo, I just got off the horn with Waves, and the guy told me that my loading times are "normal", and they only have a fix specifically addressing Waveshell 6.0.7 and Cubase (PC) 5.0.1. I take it you're running PC, then?

Basically, he was like Jeff Probst on Survivor: "I got nothin' for ya". Actually, he was quite nice and said that they're fully aware of customer dissatisfaction with the Waveshell paradigm, and indicated they're doing something about it. I hope so. This "loading the everything into memory" has got to stop. Not that I've noticed said memory hit, but it's disturbing, nonetheless.

Sorry Brent! Derailed again!
Welcome, from the future. Waves did absolutely nothing about the Waveshell paradigm. You are on v6 but they're on v16 now, in my time, and still using the outdated and frustrating Waveshell.

I'm using Cubase 14 with Waveshell 9, 15, and 16. All 3 slowwwww down cubase loading to a crawl. Annoyingly slow. I was wondering why Cubase decided to get super Slow loading. I don't know what exactly triggered it, since I've been using Waveshell for years, but I did notice when I pulled the Waveshell dll's from my VST3 folder and reloaded Cubase, it was lightning quick after the first recan. Really fast subsequent loads of Cubase from the desktop.

When I plop a Waveshell back in the VST3 folder, loading slows to a crawl. A snails pace.

With Waveshell back out, Cubase loads fast again.

So it is very clearly an issue with Waveshell. I find this is a shame since there are still one or two plugins that I still appreciate, but it's really not worth the slow loading.

Wow... Kicking up an olden thread... Well, Cubase was better even before 2009 I guess they were just 'update fascinated' back then as well...

Pick any version between VST24 3.70-

And up to SX3-

But forget anything after that>>>

Then you probably have capabilities that would impress songwriters but in some other way... Like maybe you can dig a grave with a shovel faster/better than anyone else... A songwriter would be so impressed they would write a song about it, so THERE's your songwriting... Most who are not that great at songwriting usually excel at something else, some trade, hobby, career, etc...

True story... My HS graduating class nominated me 'class clown & 'most talented' because I was the best artist in school, best musician, was an amateur radio operator, a pretty good mechanic, etc... Problem was I was NOT talented, just capable...WHY?... because there was no TV in our house... Whilst others went home & junked out on Batman or Brady Bunch I was drawing, or jamming to records with my bass guitar or other...

I think if most just threw away the damn 'smart phones' they would be more productive... Stop wasting time watching production videos, dig in... Disconnect from internet, shirk responsibilities to practice more & tell family members to 'Bugger Off'...

I need the internet
To play scrabble
To ask ai questions like...
"How do I use scripts in reaper"
To find solutions to car problems
So many problems solved
The internet is so useful
I'm so glad for it's existence
Long may it live
The rise of the machines may not even happen in this lifetime

There you go... You're blooming already...
