Is this good or bad?
I hope this doesn't have any bearing on z3ta+ 1.5

Multi-mode Sampling Synthesizer - the first rgc:audio-engineered plug-in to be included in a Cakewalk product (see related rgc:audio acquisition announcement); a robust world-class instrument featuring a versatile engine, graphical modulation section, and internal effects stages. Mix and layer rich tones using up to four voices from quality stereo samples, wave guide synthesis, and analog style synthesis; includes an extensive array of acoustic, electric and electronic instruments, loops, sound effects, and sound-scapes; heavy on features, light on CPU.
I guess this is the new synth that was mentioned way back when sfz was announced

Well tbis might put some muscle behind the sfz format... Cool.

I thought Psyn was a RGC creation too.

I had thought that Psine(?) (or something like that) - a synthesizer that came with P5 seemed very rgc-ish. Could never find any authorship information though.

Mmmm... I hope they'll keep doing VST.

P-Syn was/is an rgc creation
and rene was also nice enough to provide a very useful free midi-out plug for Cakewalk
it never made sense to me how mediocre the sampler that shipped with P5 was when rene was working on sfz
now the pieces fall into place for v2

It worries me a bit also. I wanted to eventually get one or two of the commercial RGC plugins, but only if I can get them in VST format.op519 wrote:I smell impending doom though
Cakewalk is heavily DX(i) Does this mean no future VST versions??
I also really hope that they don't kill the SFZ format, or the freeware SFZ sample player. If they're smart, they'll keep the format intact, and possibly even expand on it. If they need to protect their intellectual property, then adding some sort of optional encryption or copyright protection to the actual audio samples would be fine, but the open SFZ text format should still live on.
take care,
McLilith
