Just on the filters alone, Rumble is miles ahead. IN fact, Rumble's filters are really interesting. I mistakenly thought that the more traditional types were modelled on a Moog Ladder and SEM but whilst they have some of those characteristics, they are really quite unique. Good oscillators and filters are the fundamental requirements of a good synth. PP simply doesn't have that and all the bells and whistles in the world can't make up for it. You can hear it in the PP factory presets, all the good sounds are built on wavetables and FM, the filter takes a back seat in all of them.

It signifies that the author is an idiot, which is handy if you’re trying to avoid idiots.Nug Wrangler wrote: Sat Jun 13, 2026 10:20 pmIts the 'shocked pikachu face' every youtuber uses now. i bloody hate it.

well you know. I guess it depends on what you want to do. I mean, polyphonic fx > (very) good filters for me in many cases. And i don't care about presets that come with a vst either.BONES wrote: Sat Jun 20, 2026 11:38 pm Just on the filters alone, Rumble is miles ahead. IN fact, Rumble's filters are really interesting. However, sometimes (very) good filters ARE important and then i grab a different vst.

I think I've seen Virtual Riot use Rumble, and it really suits his music too!

Yeah, it will depend a lot on what style of music you want to make. PP seems to be a favourite for Reeses and Neurobasses and stuff like that but if you watch any videos on how to do that in PP, you'll see that they need layers and layers of effects to get what Rumble can do with just a fraction of that complexity, in a fraction of the time. Rumble feels like it's been extremely well thought through by some smart, experienced people. Really clever things like being able to have a big, thick unison mid-range but a tight, monophonic bottom end to keep your mix nice and clean down low.

Well, sure. But if you then want to go further, then that is possible with PP. I am using PP NOT for basses and reeses. I use it mainly for weird shit. E.g. 6 osc's, fm-ing and pm-ing eachother, with random jumping delays per voice, thru a moving Shepard tone unison...which is also affecting the fx...i mean. Stuff like that isn't even remotely possible with Rumble. Which is fine ofcourse. But just to show that every tool has it's purposeBONES wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 7:55 am Yeah, it will depend a lot on what style of music you want to make. -Unsaved changes dialog pops up everytime I tweak a setting and try to change presets. There needs to be an option to disable this.
-Plugin preferences revert to default when loading a new instance.
I'm on mac.
2. What is Plugin preferences ?

Is there an option for free running LFOs that I've missed? And randomised LFO phase starting point.

For me that's a massive omission, I can't think of any other popular synth with this limitation. I had a go with analog drift but it didn't seem to offer sound design options that would compensate.otristan wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 9:09 am nop. host position synced or real free ? you can use Analog Drift depending on your usage though
Edit, sorry, I meant real free.
