Not sure EightyEight would be such a good name in this case. EightyEight, but with two digits, is used by f*cking n**i scum. Most people would probably not care, or even know, but for some it could come across as a pretty bad association. I’d probably go with something that does not carry that kind of baggage.

What do you own?Morphoice wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 5:37 pm I can only model gear I actually own and that isn't PCM-based.

I know 18 is, never heard of 88starflakeprj wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:19 pm Not sure EightyEight would be such a good name in this case. It's very unlikely to have any repercussions

Don't know about 18, but 14. However, 88 would be the initials.Seafire Mk2 wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:20 pmI know 18 is, never heard of 88starflakeprj wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:19 pm Not sure EightyEight would be such a good name in this case. There was a band called Combat18 (18 being AH) I assume 88 is HHstarflakeprj wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:27 pmDon't know about 18, but 14. Aah, yes, not sure why I wrote “initials”, 18 would be the initials, ofc. Anyway, we had an ice cream in Sweden called Nogger Black. The original Nogger had a chocolate coating, while Nogger Black had a licorice coating. There was a massive backlash around the name and campaign, and the product was eventually discontinued.Seafire Mk2 wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 7:02 pmThere was a band called Combat18 (18 being AH) I assume 88 is HHstarflakeprj wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:27 pmDon't know about 18, but 14. I just remembered there is an ice cream in Sweden called 88:an. There was some controversy around it, but I believe the ice cream was created in the 60s, long before “88” had that kind of association.

I have demo'ed the juno 60 four times along the way, and the cs-80 twice in the last two weeks.
There are several reasons why I bought neither, so I may not be a customer, but the one thing I would have to say is they both sound bloody great.
So even though there are a few jupiter 8 emulations already (only one bi timbral), I am sure yours will be among the best sounding.

Well, in case you own a Jupiter 4, Korg Lambda or an Ensoniq Fizmo - I would gladly pay for either of these.Morphoice wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 5:37 pm I can only model gear I actually own and that isn't PCM-based.

I do like your aesthetic, and you can put me down on the side of "you can't have too many Jupiter 8 emulations".
If your requirement is that you need a physical unit to model, then you kind of have to answer that question yourself in terms of what you have lying around the workshop

What about the Roland Boutique SE2? A compact Studioelectronics with Roland body... Maybe some digital stuff like old Transwave Ensoniqs?

That would be awesome and give it a Poly mode toowikter wrote: Mon Jun 22, 2026 10:44 am What about the Roland Boutique SE2? A compact Studioelectronics with Roland body... Maybe sin digital stuff like old Transwave Ensoniqs?
The Filter Drive on the SE-02 is a much cooler one than the Original Model D drive and is a simple Overdrive distortion that let's you get into 303 territory with 3 Oscillators + PWM.
I would buy that on day one and I hope it will get some Linux love too
The Reason why i didn't get the Juno one is because i already have the Roland Cloud Juno 60 and 106 + Softube Model 84, Tal Uno LX and Arturia Jun V.
