I used to plug my SSL2+ audio interface to my M2 MBP through a usb dongle since this laptop only has 2 ports :-/ , and it would work great along with various controllers and hardware synths; but since the last OS upgrade (Sequoia 15.7), it only recognizes the interface if plugged in directly.
Freaking frustrating...
Have tried various AI suggestions like security permisions and haven't found a solution. Maybe someone here has had the same experience?

Super appreciate any help.

What dongle exactly? Is it USB-2 or USB-3? Made by Apple or a cheapo generic dongle?

It's an ok dongle that has worked flawlessly for a long time. And I even had a new one, same brand, and tested with it. Everything else runs fine through it. (Beatstep pro, various Roland boutique synths, sending and receiving data).
Honestly I wouldn't blame the dongle...

Ok. So I queried duckduckgo "upgraded to Sequoia 15 usb dongle issue" and this was the response:
Many users have reported issues with USB dongles not being recognized after upgrading to macOS Sequoia 15. A common solution is to check your security settings in "Privacy and Security" and set the option for USB devices to "Always Allow" or "Automatically when Unlocked."
