That's probably just the date that the WUP expires. You're not required to renew the WUP to keep using the plugins.Tubeman wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 5:29 pmCurrently Waves Central shows under "my products" that SuperTap expired almost nine years ago (lol) and Curves Resolve they gave away free recently expires Jan 2027. Haven't actually used either one recently. Or does it mean only the updates will cost? I don't have SuperTap installed atm and there seems to be no other way to install it now than pay them.seangm wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 5:16 pmI've never seen that, I've gotten a bunch of free Waves plugins with their giveaways over the years and they all still work fine. I don't pay for WUP either. Which plugins stopped working for you? Maybe there was a particular giveaway with an expiration date, but I don't have any that stopped working.Tubeman wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 5:13 pm I noticed that also their "free" plugins turn to paid plugins after a set expiration time. Not my understanding of a free plugin.

Think this way - waves exist for so many years. I had my first contact with it in 2005 I think - and the plugins are still there. Other plugins disappear after a while and if you have a workflow with them you can’t use it anymore. Also you can update when there are new plugins out. Especially great if you have mercury as there are new ones added after a while.

Because you can trust them - the're still updating even their oldest plugins. How many small developers have we seen come and go? How many developers abandoned plugins?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 3:32 pmBut why would anyone want to?Cuauhtli wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 2:48 pm I assume you can just buy them on sale again in the future if needed.
As has been said, there usually is no need to WUP at all - at least not on Windows - and that is actually another very good thing about WUP - with WUP those who are using systems that cause the work are the ones to pay - many of us Windows users are really sick and tired of being (one way or the other) penalized for the mess that is Apple compatability - the stuff just works. But even if at some point in the future it stops working you can rest assured that for a meagre sum you can get the latest version that is compatibility wise state of the art.
I love WUP - because I never need it but it's there if I do. How they can receive so much negativity for it tells more about the users than Waves imo.

Not doing WUP is fine if you’re only using one computer. But I bounce between two, and I’m not interested in juggling licenses or buying two copies of the same plugin.jens wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 9:27 pmBecause you can trust them - the're still updating even their oldest plugins. Personally, I think Waves’ licensing model is predatory. It pulls people in with low upfront prices, then pushes them toward paid upgrades that are often more expensive than what they originally paid. The OP’s situation is a good example of that.
So for me, it’s a pass on Waves. But if someone understands exactly how their licensing and upgrade model works and still wants to support them, that’s their call. You do you.

Is this true? I have H-Delay version 9.2 and it's greyed out in Waves Central. It's not even listed in the Licences tab. I don't see any way to install it.MirkoVanHauten wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 1:40 pm Then don't buy WUP. You don't have to. The plugins will still work fine.
Edit: Apparently I had to deactivate from old defunct PC and reactivate. Installed it but remembered why I stopped using it and uninstalled it again

I agree with jens. I used Waves on three comps. I bought redundant licenses for the stuff I use regularly. I upgrade when there is a real need to. On my Mac it's rare because I don't jump on every OS update and on Windows I rarely worry about it. If they pump out an interesting update, I'll wait for a sale on WUP renewals and grab it. Few companies support as long as Waves does. If you are in the game for a while you will start to appreciate that more. To call it predatory is a little nuts. They show you the cost. They show you the sale price. They tell you what updates cost. It's wild how many people amplify little things into massive problems.

I stopped to use Waves plugins from version 14... Their update politic is real strange... so many good alternative plugins in these days..so, I prefer to.not using them at all...

Well, in that case there are several options - one is of course to use a dongle, another is to move the licences back and forth via the cloud (if you use two machines you probably have to do a lot of organizing anyway so should be used to that kind of planning ahead, no?) - a third option is a legal way to use the same license on two machines that isn't really too hard to figure out.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 9:53 pmNot doing WUP is fine if you’re only using one computer. But of course you can also simply buy two licences - granted, if you'd purchase at full price rather than the 20-30 bucks a license in reality typically goes for then that would be something to write home about... but if you did that you'd probably have far bigger issues in life than WUP.
Predatory? Hardly - there'll always be someone who is completely misinformed and loudly complains, blaming the others for it.
