FXpansion Guru . . . I know, I know, Geist 2 is the succesor, and I’m sure it’s great. I’m just a sucker for the classics I guess. Still looking for another physical copy but they are next to impossible to find.

Bornemark's Broomstick Bass !
I can't say that I really used it in any songs... but I had hours of fun jamming along with it.
I probably learned most of the improvised chord changes and turnarounds, that I still use to this day playing along with that one.
The Ujam stuff is a useable replacement, but it's just not the same.

Define "sounds better", because Arturia's version sounds damn good.grumpyG wrote: Wed Jun 17, 2026 8:06 am sq8l , still sounds better than Arturia and Cherry Audio's esq-1 attempts to my ears

You can get an installer from the FXpansion site if you still have an old account with a registered license, which unfortunately I don’t. In talks with someone about a license transfer currently! Fingers crossed.gaf_thit wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 9:08 amNowhere to download and authorize?HardFloorJamm3r wrote: Wed Jun 17, 2026 4:25 am FXpansion Guru . . . So many great memories in this thread. I'll add two from left field:
1. Sonicbytes ERA sequencer. I know it lives on as Sugarbyte's Thesys (which I bought), but Thesys has a few deal breaking and inexplicable limitations to me (mostly reagarding quirks in its song mode)||
2. I need to to find the Giga-sampler gigasnare .gig. I have G-Player to play it on but how in hell am I going to find that snare .gig? Help!

That can be true, it was a long time ago I used SQ8L, and even longer since I touched an ESQ-1, or any other Ensoniq synth for that matter. But the Arturia SQ80 V just sounds so good on its own, emulation or notgrumpyG wrote: Sat Jun 27, 2026 7:27 amSounds better at being an accurate emulation of an ESQ-1 / SQ-80starflakeprj wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 9:16 pmDefine "sounds better", because Arturia's version sounds damn good.grumpyG wrote: Wed Jun 17, 2026 8:06 am sq8l , still sounds better than Arturia and Cherry Audio's esq-1 attempts to my ears
