I'm pretty sure that rgc:audio will keep developing VST's. Cakewalk have been getting heavily into VST. They are offering Voxengo bundles and the Camaleon 500 in their website.
Congratulations to Rene. I'm a proud registered user of z3ta+ and also use sfz and Triangle II frequently.
I might buy P5 v1.0 next month and get the free 2.0 upgrade. Might save a few bucks.

Hi fac,
I don't normally point out spelling errors, but you spelled every company and product name correctly, except one:
Cameleon 5000
You're might be correct about Cakewalk expanding into VST territory, but offering VST plugins that others have actually written isn't quite the same as writing your own VST plugins, or offering a host with native VST support. I would really like to see them go that far with VST support.
That is, unless Markleford's new universal music, perpetual motion, and "free healthcare for all" plugin thing takes off. Then, I would want them to support that instead.
take care,
McLilith

Thanks for the correction, McLilith. I try to avoid spelling errors and typos, but no one's perfect, right?
Thanks for the Camaleon link, too. I'd like to try a couple of additive synths, just to expand my options, and Camaleon seems one of the easiest to use. Although now that P5 v2.0 is coming, I'm not sure if I will be able to afford both programs.

Yeah Rene,
We all hope you are getting enough money from this deal to retire on--especially if your idea of retirement is to leisurely spend your time creating cool new VSTi plugins.
Seriously though, congratulations on your deal with Cakewalk.
take care,
McLilith

It will be interesting to see if the price of P5 v.1 goes back up again now... I saw it (bundled with an Edirol control surface, also very heavily reduced in price)with a value of £10 on the DV website recentlyfac wrote: I might buy P5 v1.0 next month and get the free 2.0 upgrade. I kind of assumed that meant that P5 was dead... but obviously not

Imagine SFZ+ merging with the Roland stuff currently being included in Cakewalk. Promising sample player and established sample library.
Congrats Rene. You have some of the most elegantly written software on the music market. This will be great for Cakewalk. Makes me proud to be a Sonar user.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.
