Love the mad scientist passion that you seem to have put into this plugin and it's development so I felt almost a civic duty as a long time beat fanatic myself to buy this.

As a heavy StylusRMX user I've collected alot of REX samples so once I wrap my head around how to operate it properly I look forward to seeing what I can do with those in this.

It's great to see the inclusion of polyrhythms, triplets, a slicer and so forth also. Looks like a lot of potential under the hood.

Atm I haven't figured how to route it properly in StudioOne nor how to make the midi drag work without having the plugin running but I'll have a look at some vids and the manual and hopefully figure that out when I have more time.

Post

routing is done in the mixertab, which midi drag you mean, the one for rex files ? or for all tracks.
For rex files is works like this : load a read file, drag rex midi on the same track in your daw, make sure the track is in slice mode , and set the input of the track in the mixertab to whatever your midi track is set too. I'll do a quick vid on this later. Thanks for your support. I'd love to hear what you can do with it.

here is an example of the workflow on how to use rex files with midi in BeatForge. I hope somebody that can do this alot better than myself can make a better video.

just don't forget to set the track on keytrack mode, slice mode, and midi input to channel 1 in the mixertab.

Quick BeatForge update — two new things for slice and step editing, both in version 4.1.1

Per-slice parameter locks
The step sequencer already had parameter locks, so it made sense to bring the same thing to REX slices. Select a slice (or shift-select a handful), turn a knob, and that value is locked to just those slices — pitch, decay, drive, formant, and so on. Per-slice, saved with the project.

Link Groups
This is the one I'm happiest with. You can assign slices *and* sequencer steps to any of eight colour-coded groups. Shift-click one member and the whole group selects together, so a single knob-turn writes the same lock across all of them at once.

Where it really shines is grouping by hit type — put all your kicks in one group, all your snares in another, hats in a third. Then one knob-turn processes every kick the same way, every snare the same way, and so on. Dial in a group once and treat it like a single voice.

What makes it click is that it's recall, not a hard bind. The group only decides who gets hit by your *next* edit — it never fuses their values. So you can sweep decay across all your kicks while every one keeps its own pitch. New tweaks unify, anything you dialled in earlier stays put, and a plain click on any member pulls it back out to edit on its own. Same behaviour on REX slices and step buttons.

Like always full demo/update at BeatForge.nl (message me if you tried it before, didn't buy at let it expire)

Keen to hear how it lands in real use — especially from anyone doing REX/slice performance work.
Might add an option to make it possible to choose different outputs per slicegroup later.

Cheers, Paul

1,000 thumbs ups for this one. Beatforge is already my favorite slice player, this will help a lot.

btw, I was only joking about a 303 engine in the other thread. I actually hope you focus on more drum machines, not synths. A Pearl Syncussion SY-1 would be awesome.

I'll have a look at the Pearl Syncussion, might already have most of the building blocks for it.
still want to study that 303, so I got the Behringer TD-3-MO to play around with.

Ahh yeah. Looking forward to the new REX functionality. Will have to give this a proper spin now.

That parameter lock group feature sounds cool, i was finding parameter lock editing kind of tedious. So thumbs up :)
