Many thanks for the steps and screenshot, this helps a lot isolating the problem.

Not to catch. I am simply not able to reproduce it. It works just fine here. I assume you have adblocker running, but so do i. Nevertheless worth a try to turn them off.

Could you please press f12, and have a look if you can read a warning in the console in case it freezes?

Many thanks for your effort.

Oh, first and just in case, i remember that i had a bad version released which was in the wild for around two hours. Maybe this is the problem here. Please redownload from the github release page.

For the actual version, I've let it run through the AI solution Claude now, and even Claude does not find any significant problem. The code looks correct. So the file itself is fine, there's no bug in your version. Which is why i cannot reproduce here. The most likely issue is that Firefox has probably cached an older or corrupt version of the script and is running that instead of the current file.

To fix it, try one of these:

1. Hard reload: open the file in Firefox and press Ctrl+Shift+R
2. If that doesn't help, clear Firefox's cache: Ctrl+Shift+Del → select "Cached Web Content" only → Clear → reopen the file
3. As a last resort, rename the folder (e.g. add "_new" at the end) and open the file from there — this forces Firefox to treat it as a new location with no cache

If the cache fix doesn't help, try opening the file in Chrome or Edge — they handle local file:// caching differently than Firefox.

The next version will include a cache buster, so Firefox will always load the latest code automatically — no more issues with outdated cached versions.

EDIT, You can also simply download the repository as a zip. That's the newest version then which already has the cache buster implemented.

Click at the green button called Code, and at the very bottom choose download Zip

Hi, thanks a lot for making this tool and sharing it here.

It works fine. Getting it ready to use and the interface are easy to understand even for a completely "non-techy" person like myself.

Suggestions and questions:

- Would it be possible in a future update to add import of a midi file as the starting point for the variations instead of one of the built-in seeds? That way one would have the best of both worlds, a self defined motif with all the musicality wished for, but then having it mangled through your algorithms.
- Or, could it be adjusted so one can edit the midi notes in the original first sequence after loading a seed?
- In the arpeggiator mode if one loads one of the chords labeled under "extentions" in ascending or descending arp over two octaves, they are not sorted from the lowest to highest note or vice versa, but the "add" note is added and then it goes back to the octave of the rootnote. I get that there is a certain logic to it given that the added note in an add9 chord is higher than the octave to the root note, but still it hampers that sense of evolution coming from having a sequence motif with only ascending or descending notes. No big deal, though, still a nice tool for quick variations of arps.

btw: From your accent in the video I reckon you grew up in the same area like myself in SW-Germany :-)

Indeed. Citizen of The Länd :)

Many thanks for the suggestions. I'll have a look at the arpeggiator modes sorting.

Both, editing and importing midi was on the table, but turned out that it complicated things too much. So i left it away. I'll have a second look. No promises though.
