Following the success of PULSAR 23 BD, Hunt Instruments is proud to present PULSAR 23 HHT – the world's only official virtual recreation of the legendary Hi-Hat module from SOMA Laboratory's iconic Pulsar-23 drum machine.
Created in collaboration with SOMA Laboratory and officially approved by founder Vlad Kreimer, PULSAR 23 HHT brings the sound, character, and unique behavior of the original analog hardware directly into your DAW.
Unlike sample-based instruments, PULSAR 23 HHT recreates the original module by simulating its analog circuitry in real time. This gives producers access to the movement, texture, and unpredictability that make analog instruments feel alive.

I remember trying a demo for the bass drum, which seems to not be an option for either plugin now.

2 modules for $138 of 4, so that’s a $276 drum plugin once completed.

I've paid $64 so far (bought both separately). There's a bundle on sale for that price.

This small matrix is phenomenal. With over 4,000 possible combinations, it constantly introduces subtle variations, ensuring your sound remains dynamic, organic, and never static.

This just sounds like basic white noise or is there more to it?

It does much more than just noise — just like the original hardware HHT module.

Besides the classic noise-based sounds, the HHT engine can generate a huge range of percussion textures and tonal variations. In fact, you can create virtually any hi-hat sound, from subtle and natural to aggressive and synthetic. It can also be pushed far beyond hi-hats, producing convincing claps, snares, and many other percussive sounds.
And in the plugin version, we've added something that isn't available in the hardware: a small trigger matrix that dramatically expands the sonic possibilities.
This little matrix gives you thousands of different sound combinations, allowing you to explore everything from classic hi-hats to completely unexpected percussion and rhythmic textures.

Just wait until all the components are in one plugin, this seems like a cash grab.

We understand why it might look that way at first glance.

The reason we chose to develop separate modules is not to split the product artificially, but because the original hardware itself is built from independent modules with very deep functionality. Recreating the entire instrument as a single plugin while preserving its character, behavior, and flexibility would be an enormous undertaking.

At the same time, we wanted each plugin to offer more than a direct one-to-one recreation. For example, Pulsar 23 BD includes a chromatic mode that turns the module into a playable bass instrument, while Pulsar 23 HHT adds a trigger matrix capable of generating thousands of sound variations beyond the original hardware.

For users who own the hardware, or who want to build their own setups step by step, this modular approach also provides a lot of flexibility. We truly appreciate the feedback and understand that different users may prefer different approaches.

Yeah…. Okay 👍
That is absolutely ridiculous!
By your logic, every analog drum synth voice are separate modules… Maybe Roland should’ve released 11 individual plugins instead of one 909 plugin?
Come on. Don’t underestimate our intelligence please.
