Thanks to everyone for the feedback on the beta version, it's now at V1.0 and also now costs the princely sum of $15.

What's new?
  • Built in soft-synth and effects for auditioning. (Or final mixes, you do you. ;) )
  • Step editor for bass and chords
  • Not free (boo)
https://cordialvst.com/

There's a demo version available, and a video with a quick overview of the plugin on the website. (The demo only has chord progressions, no other compositional elements, and no drag/drop midi into DAW, but otherwise identical)

Speaking of free though - I have two new instruments I'm working on, and they are free to download and try here: https://cordialvst.com/freebies

One is Strataform - a lush pad synth with several voice sources and some presets.
The other is Thumper - a drum synth with both pure synth and physically generated drums.

Both are super early works in progress, and may or may not lead to viable products, but making them available for people to try - they are free for now, so go nuts.

Is there a way to import chord progressions or are we tied to using progressions generated internally??

A great useful plugin for a quick sketch :tu:

What I would wish are some presets for the other parts too like you have for the chord progressions.

Especially the parameters for the melody are not that common and self explanatory for me so something "style based" like with the progressions would be a really welcomed update.

You can create your own chord progressions in the plugin (from scratch or change a preset in any way) - but no importing right now.

I'm not aware of any 'standard' format for sharing this kind of data either - MusicXML comes closest and wouldn't be too hard to support, but not sure how widely used it is.

Happy to add preset file export/import to the roadmap for a future update though, solid idea.

Solid idea - especially for the melody section.

Bass and arpeggio sections would be really tricky to make presets for that are genre specific, but I'm not ruling it out - it would just need to be done well with a lot of care.

The melody could use some presets that work reasonably well though for sure, like: 'Long notes, lots of space', 'Flighty chromatic jazz' etc. It's on the roadmap now.

Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, and I added 'tooltips' to the roadmap for an upcoming version to explain the controls better. As well as making better documentation. This is my first foray into making plugins for other people to use, so learning a lot as I go.

These are not so important in case of presets for me cause the parameters are very clear and I dont think in general that style-dependent. Of course would be nice to have, but the melody for me is really the important point.

So your suggestions really appreciated, looking forward to it :tu:
