not my sort of music but I love the way you have created a full spatial image - fantastic use of space and a great sound overall

Thank you! I do try and use the stereo field as much as possible, and limit myself to a single stereo reverb, so you get the feeling that you’re in a studio with a band.sandandpaint wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 1:10 am not my sort of music but I love the way you have created a full spatial image - fantastic use of space and a great sound overall

A very groovy song. The drums play in a very unusual style — while the
feminine vocals bring in both feeling and a sense of steady rhythm.
The melody is very fitting. The 1920s-style video places the song in an
almost historical context. A very beautiful guitar solo.
Overall, a great song—super well done!

Thank you! I did write this when I was working with a woman vocalist. My voice definitely can’t sing the melodies that I like to write. Some might say that my voice can’t sing at all!enroe wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 7:51 am A very groovy song. The drums play in a very unusual style — while the

Thank you. I really appreciate it.
I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been influenced by the Police. After discovering the Police, I went out and bought a Stratocaster… well, a G&L Skyhawk. I still have it, though I didn’t use it on this track. A JC-120 too, though that’s long gone. I’m sure there’s some Talking Heads, King Crimson, and a bunch of similar influences swimming around this old brain. I’m taking on a project where I take all of my old songs that I never had the means to properly record and produce and put them into the world.

zerocrossing,
Thank you for checking out my music! Now your song: I also hear a Police influence instrumentally (good). Singers sound very good. I think the song sounds very good, all around! The vocals remind me of a well known group, but I can't remember their name, or the name of any of their songs.

The Police were definitely part of my training material.aaron aardvark wrote: Tue Jun 30, 2026 2:02 am zerocrossing,

Not generative AI, but a machine learning trained model. Synthesizer V.Singers sound very good: are they human or AI? Don't worry, I won't diss you if it is AI.
Thank you! The female voice was one of the ones that came free. Its native language is Chinese, so I never bothered using it because I didn't think it did English, but it does, obviously. Pretty well, I think. I didn't have to do anything special with pronunciation to get it to sound like that, though I am doing a lot of real time and per phoneme modulation to liven the performance up a bit. Synthesizer V can sound a little stiff, if you don't put in the work.I think the song sounds very good, all around! I was against using synthetic voices for a long time, but at some point it occurred to me that I was using SWAM Cello in songs, which is also a machine modeled synthetic instrument. I'm using sampled sitars and tanpura, in that song. Was there a difference? I think if you heard me singing it, you'd be thankful for this technology.
