0.12.0 is out - the sequencing and modulation release. Tools for writing parts, shaping them with modulation, and recording the takes.

The headline: a chord track for whole progressions, a polyphonic step sequencer, three new modulators, deeper automation, and take recording with comping.

Chord track:
  • A dedicated track that lays out the whole progression as named chord blocks, each with its own MIDI voicing
  • Set root, quality, extension, octave, and inversion per chord, and transpose the whole thing at once
  • Save progressions to the library to reuse anywhere, or drag suggestions in from the Chord Engine
Poly Sequencer:
  • A polyphonic step sequencer with up to eight notes per step, so it plays real chords
  • Keyboard mode and an x0x-style drum mode whose lanes follow a downstream Drum Grid
  • Per-step gate, tie, velocity, and probability, Time Bend built in, plus an AI pattern agent
Three new modulators - Random for stepped or smooth noise, an ADSR envelope triggered by your notes, and an envelope follower that makes one track move a parameter on another, with high-pass and low-pass detection filters.

Automation:
  • Tempo automation as a curve in the master band, so the song speeds up and slows down along the curve
  • Master-channel automation alongside other edit-scoped targets
  • A new hard-corner curve type and a point inspector for typing exact values
Takes & comping - loop record keeps every pass as a take. Expand the take lanes and swipe in the best of each to build a comp. Audio and MIDI, the same workflow.

Audio to MIDI - right-click an audio clip and transcribe it to a MIDI clip of the detected notes.

Also:
  • Named timeline markers and a song navigator minimap
  • An optional seconds ruler and per-project settings for length and render format
  • Refreshed track headers: icon buttons with tooltips, a three-state input monitor, and the chord track's mute, solo and monitor folded into one Silent/Audible/Solo audition control
  • DAWproject import and export, fold the MIDI editors to the notes in use, and the usual fixes

0.13.0 is out - the instruments release. Thirteen new native instruments, built in and open source.

The headline: two synths, a synthetic drum kit, three struck physical models, and native ports of three Mutable Instruments modules.

Synths:
  • Poly Synth - a 16-voice subtractive synth, four detunable oscillators (sine, saw, square, triangle) into a multimode filter with its own envelope, plus an amp ADSR
  • FM - a four-operator FM synth with a full four-by-four modulation matrix, any operator can modulate any operator, the diagonal is self-feedback, with per-operator ratio, level and waveform
A synthetic drum kit - Kick, Snare, Hat, Tom and Clap. Every voice is synthesised, not sampled, built from tunable layers (transient, body, noise). Drop them on Drum Grid pads or play any one standalone.

Physical models - Marimba, Djembe and Bell, each a struck modal physical model driven by a strike exciter. The decay is intrinsic to the model, no samples and no loops.

Mutable Instruments, ported:
  • Materia - a port of Elements, a bow/blow/strike modal voice into a modal and string resonator with stereo space
  • Halo - a port of Rings, a polyphonic resonator with modal, sympathetic and string models
  • Nimbus - a port of Clouds, a granular texture processor with granular, stretch, delay and spectral modes, plus freeze
Faithful ports of Emilie Gillet's open-source designs.

Also: every instrument shares the same device slot, macros and modulation, so an LFO, an envelope or a mapped macro works the same across all of them. Nothing to install, no third-party plugins required.
