I put a new song in my music website called "You Have It Made"; it is the song on top. Please tell me how you like the song, how it can be improved, and I will return the favor (leave me a link if you don't have a recent thread). Here is my link:

I feel that too much of this song lives in the bass range, and it's all soaked in a lot of reverb. When the guitar comes in, it's buried compared to the rest of the mix. Like there's a second instrument mirroring the bass that comes in, and it could be an octave higher, but then drop out during the vocal, which could be pushed much further up in the mix. I think if you think a bit more about the position of each part, that would help the mix seem more dynamic. Bring the vocals up and take some of the reverb off to make it seem closer, and maybe only have the longer reverb on the snare. Seen With Your Eyes is now playing, and I kind of feel the same way. Don't be afraid of midrange! The vocal is better placed on this one, though, but it could still be a bit louder. I really think you could lower the reverb volume by half and it would still sound nice and lush. It sort of feels like you're hiding everything.

I don't know. I must have really bad ears because this sounds fine to me. Another great track. Looking forward to next month's offering.

I quite like the synth melody!

Very catchy bass line and hook. I like the guitar solo especially and how the synth leads build up at the end. Nicely done!

zerocrossing,
Thank you for listening and commenting; I appreciate it! I just mix it the best I can, for what sounds best to my ears, with my Sony MDR7506 headphones.

I really liked it. Cool riff, drums, synth...

The only thing I think could be improved is the chorus (where everything but bass and drums get kinda muddy, buried in the mix).

Apart from that, good job, pal.

zerocrossing,
Thank you for checking out my music, and commenting, I appreciate it! There is actually zero reverb on the vocals. There is, what I call "pseudo double tracking" on the vocals: I have one vocal track that is fully pitch corrected, and a copy of that vocal track with less (or no) pitch correction, and one track is time shifted by about 0.010 to maybe 0.020 seconds relative to the other. No vocal reverb, effectively, just a very short delay; similar to actual: double tracking. Double tracking vocals typically sounds more lush because there are slight (unless a singer's timing is pretty sloppy and/or pitchy) timing and pitch variations between two or more separately recorded vocal tracks. Though it can sound worse if the time and pitch variations are too dissimilar.

"You Have Made It": Great song. It starts off with a great groove; the vocals define
the track, giving it a unique character and making it instantly recognizable. The
guitar solo is fantastic. The vocals are dynamic and emotional — brilliantly done!

Regarding production technology: zerocrossing is right here – there is still plenty
of room for improvement!

The song itself — the composition— is simply fantastic, though! :tu:
